Dear Dr. Hutchings:
Your article concerning Rick Warren's ministry is one of the most balanced exposes of what I see as a very dangerous movement. I find no animosity in what you have said and I believe it is a message that every pastor around the world needs to hear.
As I've traveled the world the last two years in minister's conference, I've seen the havoc which that ministry has caused. In South Africa, one pastor spent six weeks preaching from Rick Warren's book. Most of the well-grounded pillars left the church and it is floundering. We find the same everywhere we go. It simply does not work.
I've order one hundred copies of "Piggyback/Saddleback" and plan to send them to my bishop friends in all the nations we've been to.
God bless you for taking the stand that is not popular and one that I believe truly pleases the Lord.
May the Spirit of the Lord give you strength and courage.
Well said, my brother.
His bondservant,
David Wilkerson
Just an honest question: where is the biblical evidence that Warren is indeed born again?

No, but I googled piggyback/saddleback and came across this on a business website [url=http://www.fastcompany.com/blog/john-moore/piggyback-saddleback-part-one]fastcompany.com
Piggyback on Saddleback | part one
BY John MooreFri Feb 8, 2008 at 6:39 AM
"The best book on building and growing a business wasn’t written by an acclaimed consultant or esteemed academic. It was written by Rick Warren, the founding pastor of Saddleback Community Church.
If you are one of the 25-million plus people who’ve read THE PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE, then you're familiar with Rick Warren. But you're probably not familiar with his first book, THE PURPOSE-DRIVEN CHURCH. In it, Warren shares the methods used by Saddleback to grow from its first service with seven people to being a church with over 20,000 members.
To illustrate how business-relevant Warren’s advice is, this three-post series will be a mash-up message from Rick Warren’s THE PURPOSE-DRIVEN CHURCH and marketing musings found in my TRIBAL KNOWLEDGE."
If I didn't know any better I'd think I was reading The Wittenburg Door
I was blown away watching C-SPAN that had Rick Warren speaking to Muslim leaders!! He made Muslim god and "God" all ONE!
He said that their god was the god Warren served!
Warren didnt share the gospel with these leaders who were going to hell...instead Warren was being an ecouragement to them! :-?
wayneman,
Rick Warren could easily be the False Prophet in Revelation. His PD-Life book is just like the articles by Transformational Marxist people (Progressives - Social Psychologists etc.) who wrote a book in the 1950 called "Human Relations in Curriculum Change". It's all about 'the group', 'the collective mind' which pushes out the individual (one who stand on God's Standards (Genesis - Revelation) to have their way in the 'group'. Today you hear this same spirit in the word "Community". It's sick! :-(
brentw,
Incredible!
God bless you richly brentw!
Hi everyone,
According to Strong's Greek Dictionary, the word translated [b]blaspheme
G987
βλασφημέω
blasphēmeō
blas-fay-meh'-o
From G989; to vilify; specifically to speak impiously: - (speak) blaspheme (-er, -mously, -my), defame, rail on, revile, speak evil.
The same word is rendered [i]reviled[i]defamed[i]to speak evil
I have no desire to defend Mr. Warren's teachings or actions but wanted to share this with you all in considering whether it is safe for us to offer opinons in public about living persons that associate them with villany or personified evil.
It's safe alright. And not only is it safe, but an enemy of God ought to be referred to as an enemy of God. Rick Warren is as devout an enemy of God as ever there was. He is properly referred to as one of the many 'antichrists' that would come.
Prov 17:15 He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the Lord.

This following is what was said specifically(name removed),
...could easily be the False Prophet in Revelation
It is required of witneses that they relate facts, what they have seen, what they have heard, and what they know.
Witnesses are not invited to speculate about what they think a person could be.
There is a difference between calling a man a false prophet and calling him [b]the false prophet[b]the devil
As you pointed out in Proverbs 17:15, it is never safe to pervert judgment.
I agree with Old Joe, it is safe to expose these guys as what they really are.
I have heard Preachers speak against certain false preachers over the years and they would not mention their names. They do the body of Christ a disservice when they don't do what they've been called to do, warn the body. Charlatan's and Hirelings, they are everywhere. The majority of the ministries in this city has embraced that trash and to tell you the truth it's hard to find a Church to go to. There is more in home meetings sprouting up though, which is a good thing.
Hi DeepThinker,
"...it is safe to expose these guys as what they really are."
The question was if it is safe to offer our opinions. Not the facts.
EDIT
Again to be clear, this following is what was suggested that prompted me to ask you all to consider this:
...could easily be the False Prophet in Revelation.
Do the details matter to us? Is it fair to make any accusation that remotely resembles the truth so long as we are convinced of the truth of it in general?

Right on Joe, but one thing there is NO 'ought to be' about it. These things "are" certain. But your so right we are to warn about the many anti-christ's. My last pastor, Milton Green, spoke more on them so that the sheep would NOT be deceived because we could be deceived!
God bless you Old Joe.

Yes. To warn sheep is one of the most 'encouragement' you can give the sheep because it 'is' looking after their soul.
God bless you all in Jesus Mighty Name! When even the 2 witnessess of Rev. 11 comes, most even those who call themselves christian's will believe their testimony was not encouraging and when they are murdered by the Evil One many will be happy and give gifts to others. We are not far from this happening - you can discern it right now in the Holy Spirit though it's still a time to come.
ChrisJD,
God bless you friend.
These things are spiritually discerned. Use your spirit-man which has The Holy Spirit in it and as God will's you shall clearly see.
And also what David Wilkerson said in 2004 speaks with a Godly Authority for sure as well. Can you at least believe what David W. said?
Again, if you discern the spirit's in this man they are evil, so beware. You can discern lust of the flesh, lust of the eye and the boastful pride of life when you see this man and even when you read his books. Rick Warren is so much in bed with the United Nations - he's preaching their same documents etc.
Be ye encouraged, friend, whereby you will never be deceived.
Eph 1:17-23
17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to usward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
KJV
Blessings to you.

At issue is whether or not we are at liberty to offer public speculations, possiblilites, and our opinons about others when doing so associates that person with personified evil.
A false witness is a false witness.
jsisrl,
When you said the following about this man,
"......could easily be the False Prophet in Revelation"
Was God speaking , or were you speaking?
