I read a quote by Hudson Taylor on one of the forums here within the last couple of days, and I can't remember where it was.
It was about a man in China asking why it took so long for news of the true God to reach his people, and that his father had been searching for this God until the day he died.
That quote pierced my heart, and I really want to find it. I have searched for it in vain. Can someone help me with this please?

I googled until I found a few sources that referenced this quote. The Gospel Magazine had the indepth story which is worth reading, but I'll quote from The Wiersbe Bible Commentary on the NT:
In October 1857, J. Hudson Taylor began to minister in Ningpo, China, and he led a Mr. Nyi to Christ. The man was overjoyed and wanted to share his faith with others.
"How long have you had the good tidings in England?" Mr. Nyi asked Hudson Taylor one day. Taylor acknowledged that England had known the gospel for many centuries.
"My father died seeking the truth," said Mr. Nyi. "Why didn't you come sooner?"
Taylor had no answer to that penetrating question.

Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest." Matt9:37-38

Yes, Amen! It was nice to know that I was not alone in this...though I am never alone... :-)
Thanks for looking this up! This question penetrates my own soul too. We MUST pray for workers to be sent to those who haven't yet heard. If it were not important, Jesus would not have told us to pray that way. Though we are continually crying out to God to guide us in our own areas of ministry, the need for other workers to reap in the harvest is greater than we can realize.
Why haven't we sent the message sooner?
When our vision unites with God's vision, it reaches far beyond our immediate view to places and human beings that He knows and loves dearly.
Oh God help us to pray! Help us to interecede! Help us to beseech you as you want us to that you might move on the behalf of mankind.
