Where to give of our finances?

sermonindex Mar 30, 2009

I think I have heard of others mention about a couple of ministries that print bibles to give away and others that support the needy...children and such. Would anyone know of some trustworthy ministries that when we give that we can feel confident that the money will be given to the need instead of 80% going to the administration and 20% going to the need.

Appreciate some recommendations..

Have you prayed about it yet?

Heartcry Missionary Society http://hcmissions.org/

Paul Washer is the president of this missionary society. They support godly indigenous missionaries in several countries. I have been encouraged, blessed, and challenged by the transparency of their ministry. They also make very clear that their dependence is on God, and that they trust him to supply their needs rather than sending out many appeals for money. Based on everything I know of this ministry, I would wholeheartedly recommend it.

For what? giving or not to giving? Or do you mean the recipients?

You know I haven't thought of them...I have thought about that in the past and completely forgot...I do appreciate how they support and train missionaries.

thanks

Another ministry that may also get neglected in giving is e-Sword. The work put into that free product has been a service to thousands of Christians.

Soup Kitchens, a worthy cause.

Gospel For Asia seems like a trustworthy cause to me. K. P. Yohannan wrote a book which you may have read called "Revolution in World Missions". He gives it for free at www.gfa.org if you want to check it out.

Also what comes to mind is Voice of the Martyrs (www.persecution.com) which is geared more toward the persecuted believers around the world.

Praise God for your willingness to give! God loves a hilarious giver :).

Yes, all the above. It is God's money, after all.

I have heard that Heart Cry has actually started to turn away people from giving because they have met so much of their need and beyond.

Here are some GREAT organizations to give your money to where alittle money will go a long way! Surely in the time of recession the best place to put your money is in the kingdom of God.

Gospel For Asia: www.gfa.org
Orphans Tear: http://www.heavensfamily.org/ot/
ChildCry: http://www.childcrynyc.org/

I personally can vouch for all 3 of these ministries that the money is almost ENTIRELY used to preach the gospel and care for the poor!

I can vouch for the Ministry link in my Signature that prints 48 page booklets for 4 Cents each including shipping in that 4 cents, and also coloring books for child evangelism, because of volunteers working at the plant and one set low pay for all employees.
They ship out free - run on faith - have over 319 languages and their doctrine is sound.
In Ministry to save souls and provide teaching booklets for converts.
Praying to evangelize the world with the Gospel while we still can.

Good of you to seek.

As Greg recommended David Servant has some ministries where 100% of the money goes for the cause.

Or you can go to a small org. Where all the money always goes to support missionaries. A dear friend of ours just started doing this, and there is one couple in need, brother Ishmail and his family, who are full time native missionaries in India.

You can read about him here:

Thanks for this thread. Last week I listened to the message of David Servant's on the Sheep and the Goats. https://www.sermonindex.net/modules/mydownloads/visit.php?lid=16428
It is good to think biblically and be challenged about our giving. How many give to a denomination to fund further buildings and somehow think that is biblical giving???
I have been pondering much over past days the judgement of Matthew 25. How do we match up to what Jesus says we will be judged on???

I will throw another suggestion to pray about reguarding giving.

Jesus also commanded to give to the poor as you mentioned, but I have had the Lord lay people that I know personally on my heart and even made me aware they are going through rough times.

The feeling of joy when somehow He has placed an exact amount on your heart and they confirm it is beyond words.

When you think that these are the people you see and make an impression on daily, it might very well decide someone's eternal fate.

May the Lord direct you always.

The Gideons:

100% of your donation goes to purchasing Bibles. All of the overhead of this ministry is covered by the Gideons themselves (Christian businessmen) through dues and offerings. This is a world-wide ministry.

Nothing changes lives like God's word, and the Gideons get Bibles and pocket New Testaments into the hands of millions of people every year. Ps19:7

...for God loves a cheerful giver. 2Cor9:7 :-P

You also need to be aware that God might tell you not to give anywhere right now.
