Keep in mind that John 3:16 does not imply that men, in and of themselves, have the ability to believe in Christ apart from the enablement of the Father.

Our Lord simply states that whosoever believes in him will have everlasting life. However, when read in the context of the rest of John's gospel, we learn that man does not have the ability to do this without the enablement of the Father.

There is a Word in John 3:16,( that I believe so many overlook) and it is the Word:"should" not perish"
I believe there are many
dear one`s that believe it says,
"Shall"not perish or "will" not perish.
Please reconsiter,
It does not say this!

From John 13 on - HE is at the last supper with his 11 - right on to chpt 18. He talking to and praying for just them except moving onto John 17:20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word

- so that conversation and prayer from chtps 13-17 are now for us, who believed through their word.

Thank you for this simple explanation. I am finding more and more when I am looking at a verse that I need to read the chapters surrounding it to get the context. So many doctrinal errors come from forcing scripture from it's context.
