“Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the LORD. They say still unto them that despise me, The LORD hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you.” (Jeremiah 23:16-17)

In a sermon titled “A Nation Abandoned by God” John MacArthur says:

“I wish it weren’t so, but when I look at the society in which we live, I cannot do anything other than conclude that the wrath of God is at work in the way it is described in Romans 1 right now in our culture. And it’s so important for us to understand this because, this would be the worst time ever to do anything in a ministry to accommodate the culture. To make a culture under divine judgment feel comfortable would be the antithesis of what God has called a minister of the gospel to do.”

“The anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly.” (Jeremiah 23:20)

This is an important message for Christians in a post-Christian world.

Francis Schaeffer wrote an excellent booklet on this topic.
