looking for some help

An old friend came to me a few days back and wanted to talk. She admitted that she is really struggling with some issues in her life that has left her feeling really lost. She said that she feels like a huge fake and a phony. She said that for a long while now, since she came to know Jesus she has been trying so hard to be what others have wanted her to be or told her to be that she doesn't even know who she is any more. We talked for quite a long time and she admitted that this has been a real struggle for a long time now and that she has tried just go on with life an usual but that its not working any more. She said that she wants to find her identity in Christ, to be the person He has for her to be?
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on some teachings to share with her. She has been on my heart since she told me these things. I honestly had no idea she felt this way.

Tim Keller's sermon on the prodigal sons comes to mind. It's not the usual sermon on that topic.

If you go to http://www.theprodigalgod.com, which is the website for the book he wrote on the same passage, on the right side you will "The Prodigal God Audio" and then under that "And from the Archives, “The Prodigal Sons”, September 2005:" ... that is the sermon I would recommend.

With care in Christ,
Taylor
