Hope this helps. I found that many teachers and pastors have falsely lead others and just by there own ignorance in not knowing the whole story. The story has been embellished much. I thought that these two men left there families for a lifetime of slavery on that island...basically sealing there fate. Turns out that these men had productive and influential lifes AFTER there missionary stay on the island.

Sad that many respectful teachers and pastors have not told the truth to others regarding this story.

Thank you very much for this information. I like a compelling story just as much as the next guy, but this thread reminds us that we must preach Christ and not ourselves nor other men.

What is necessary is not anecdotes and emotional testimonies but finding and preaching Christ expositionally in and through all the scriptures. Until a man has labored in the Word and can do that, I say sit down, close your mouth, and study.

We expound way to much on others abilities and not on the abilities of Christ. It comes down to entertaining the sheep and the goats. What you said reminds of of what the apostle Paul said..
