I need some help with a situation. I have a friend who is older then I am and she is a very dear lady but she really has a negative attitude. As I have spent time with her, I notice that she seems to allow little things to really bother her. She is always saying that things irritate her, or that she feels really frustrated by little things. The strange thing is that she is not an angry person, and she does not get mad or act out, but she does seem unsettled and agitated. Things seem to really effect her mood at times. I am asking for advice because I want to share with her, my first concern is whether I should speak with her about this, she is older then myself? I do not want to be disrespectful. IF I do speak with her, how should I approach things with her about her attitude?

Any thoughts??

I would spend time in fervent prayer for her in this way for awhile and believe to see changes in her from God. And you would then never need to speak to her about these things.

I have testimonies of this happening in my life what a more "excellent" way.

Just approach it in a joking way not a serious I need to talk to you way. Then tell her she needs to stop letting the bad override the good, that God has abundant life for her and wants to help her to start living it. But the enemy keeps exaderating the negative? You can say anything you want too if you just say it in the right way! Be very careful and prayerful about it. God Bless, :-D

I would echo brother Greg's advice here. And you might also listen to a message given at the revival conference by Mark Greening The Role of the Holy Spirit

It's a very delicate issue when it comes to talking to other believers about sin that we see in their life. It takes much wisdom and being filled with the Holy Spirit to do it in a way that will be a help and not a hindrance.

But practically for you right now, unless God really burdens you to say something directly to her (and pray much, much before you do it), I would pray for the Holy Spirit to bring conviction to her about this area of her life. And when you are around her seek to be filled with joy, thanksgiving, and gratitude for all things. The Lord could just use your example of being a joyful, Christ-filled, Spirit-filled believer to change her heart. :) And He's able to do such a better job at changing the hearts of people than any of us could ever do.

Many godly saints have said that discernment is not given for criticism but for discernment. This is difficult for most of us...but I think it would change a lot of things if we prayed for one another more than talking about the problem. Jesus is the Answer! :)

Seek Jesus for wisdom and He will show you what to do.

your sister,
Joy :-)
