Had an interesting discussion with some other brothers and sisters in Christ not to long ago. We were talking about different jobs(employment) and how it is spiritually much more difficult to do some kinds of work then it is others. My close friend runs her own photography business mentioned that doing weddings has become difficult because of all the drinking and inappropriate behavior that goes on during the reception. She just did a wedding recently where most of the bridal party and family began drinking two hours before the ceremony even started. Someone else mentioned how the company they work for(retail) has become a huge supporter of gay rights and that it was really uncomfortable for a few weeks when they were really promoting this for diversity. Luckily they did not have to take part in anything but still the company celebrated all of its gay employees during this time. Another was sharing about how they had decided against going into graphic design or advertising as a career choice because of all the violence and sex used to sell stuff and they just don't want to be apart of that. With some of the new health care changes that are inevitably coming I think becoming a doctor or working in the medical profession will become more difficult as well. I was thinking that perhaps if things continue on this path it will most likely only become more difficult to work in certain professions that thirty or forty years ago would not have been an issue. Has anyone else had to chose a different job/career or change jobs/career because of the way things have become so much more perverse in this country?
