10 Ravenhill Sermon Recommendations.

sermonindex Sep 12, 2004

If you are new to hearing this great man of God then 200+ recordings might seem daunting.. so here is a list of 10 that I recommend to listen to first:---**Long Interview of Leonard Ravenhill by David Mainse by Leonard Ravenhill - -This recording really impacted me, its amazing the overflow of burden for genuine revival in the heart of bro len.Abraham and Lot by Leonard Ravenhill - -There is much conviction that comes with this piece, its one of my favorite bible stories also.An Interview with Leonard Ravenhill (video) by Leonard Ravenhill - -This was really the main recording that impacted my life of ravenhill, this was taken months before his death! Nobody who watches this 2 hour recording cant be the same again.Anahiem Talk on Revival by Leonard Ravenhill - Ravenhill is preaching and spending a few weeks with John Wimber in a special conference in Anaheim, USA. There is a special emphasis on prayer and revival for this conference and Ravenhill is 80 years old when he was there. David Ravenhill his son is also accompaining him.Choosing Rather to Suffer by Leonard Ravenhill - This sermon preached by Ravenhill really gets to the root of alot of the causes of why we don't have genuine revival in North America. He takes the life of moses and shows how he choosed rather to suffer for the sake of Christ then enjoy the pleasures of sin for a short time. The same thing can be asked of the church today? There are many different tangents and convicting statements brought up as the spirit of God lead brother ravenhill to speak. This is a must listen.Elijah - He Prayed by Leonard Ravenhill - The life of this remarkable prophet was singled down into 2 words by God, "He Prayed". That phrase categorized his life and his marvelous exploits with God. Ravenhill walks us through the life of this man and paints a wonderful picture taking down most of our sunday school preconceptions. Grieving The Spirit by Leonard Ravenhill - A gripping sermon where Leonard Ravenhill preaches on the grieving of the Holy Spirit. Ravenhill is convinced the reason we do not see the power of the Spirit today can be found from the following verse: "the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified." (John 7:39) This is perhaps one of Ravenhill's best sermons.Judgement Seat of Christ (video) by Leonard Ravenhill - This is a powerful message on the Judgement Seat of Christ. This message will challange you to question the way you are living as a Christian today compared to the eternal reality that we are going to go before God one day to give an account of our life. (this is a classic ravenhill message)!!Revival by Leonard Ravenhill - This sermon was given by Ravenhill in 1955. This must have been just before he was injured. What a fiery message, I think this was about the time that Ravenhill speaks of the revival at Tozer church. The agony of deceived and lost people going to hell is overwhelming. Hell No Exits by Leonard Ravenhill - Again I am stunned and stirred by this sermon and think it worthy of hearing for this late man of God's power, enthusiasm, and thought provoking sermon on Hell. Many people don't think think about it's reality and importance and this sermon sure does have the ability to cause christians as well as sinners to think about Hell.

I just listened to the long radio interviews with Ravenhill. These are incredible recordings, very very insightful. I wish more people knew of them. I recognized some of the quotes of Ravenhill from compilations at Fire on The Altar, but to hear them in their entirey is special.

Hell Has No Exits - is perhaps the most moving sermon I've ever heard. Wow. I am stunned just having listened to it. I hope everyone on SI gets to hear this sermon from brother Ravenhill.

I think some of his best stuff is about our sinnfulness and Prayer. That is why I like "No man is greater than his prayer like" on page 8. Another good one is "Weeping" on page 13.

In "What is your vision", brother Ravenhill says about sermons every believer should hear:

What America needs is somebody who will go through every church in the country and preach for a week on eternity:
Preach one day on the Judgment Seat of Christ.
Preach one day on the Judgment of believers.
Preach one day on the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.

and...

One fellow said, "I just finished three years in Seminary." I asked him,
"Did anyone ever preach a sermon on eternity?"... "No."
"Did you ever hear a sermon on the judgment seat of Christ?"... "No."
"Did anyone preach a sermon on "The Bride of Christ?"... "No."
The man burst into tears. I said,
"In God's name, why do you go to seminary? To learn how to bury the dead?"

Well, I've read the judgement seat of Christ message. I would looove to hear or read a sermon by Ravenhill about the Bride of Christ and the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. He must have preached about these subjects but I couldn't find them.
Any help, please? Have anybody found these sermons? :-)

They are expensive but I'm sure the messages are precious, too.
