I am interested to know. Most of the state would say they are just ill or have some chemical imbalance or something. I believe this is true for some, but I am also persuaded that many of them are demon possessed. I think Jesus would spend much of his time there if He were on the earth in that sense. I am wondering if it is hard to get in. If anyone has any testimony of fruit in the ministry. Or other.
I have just got alongside a lady who is having mental issues. She was put into the mental ward of our local hospital. I have been going along to visit her most days. She says that she has at least 3 people in her head. We prayed the sinners prayer about a week prior to her ending up in there.
I was with her last night when she started to hold her head & she was telling me that one of the voices was telling her to hurt herself. You could see that she was getting very aggitated. This is where I start to feel very inadequate. It is only when I am full of the Holy Spirit that I can help her in any way. I just kept praying in the Name of Jesus & telling the evil spirit to be gone in Jesus Name. This is what Jesus did in the Bible & what He commissioned the disciples to do. We see so little of this these days & try to help people in our own strength. I have just bought one of Derek Prince's books & I am wanting to read & learn about this as I'm sure there are so many people in the world that suffer from this.
It can only be in Jesus that we can help people like this. Derek Prince has some good sermons on Sermon Index, both audio & video that are well worth listening to.
I imagine it's as hard to get into as the prison system is. But it doesn't really matter if anyone else has a testimony, if God is sending you, then you need to go but you need to make sure you are being sent and not just went b/c you were looking for something to do.
The reason I say that is b/c if we are sent, then God and His heavenly host are behind us; if we just go in our own power, then we go alone.

How important is it that we are open to the Holy Spirit & do what He would have us do. When Jesus walked the earth He only did what His Father wanted Him to do & He didn't start His earthly ministry until He was full of the Holy Spirit. If Jesus did this how much more important is it for us.
I have tried a few times to witness in institutions to not much avail. Most institutions that I have tried to witness in have privacy policies that will not allow non-family members to speak to patients.
I was visiting an institution to help minister to someone who tried comitting suicide. Once visiting time was through with this person, I went up to the nurses station to ask to see other patients. I asked if I could talk to any patient that does not have someone that visits them at all. The nurse nearly fell out of her chair. She looked me over like something was wrong with me and said "no, why?!?" I explained to her that I wanted to be a blessing on someone that had no one. Other nurses came over and I was quickly shut down and left.
So, if you are blessed enough to get into an institution to witness while being an outside minister, God bless you. I have had no luck.
I have visited a person I knew from a presbyterian church that ended up in one. It was very sad to visit and minister there. There are many oppressed people and the people who work there are also usually oppressed by the devil also.
A very sad situation.
Why go to an institution? The oppressed people fill the town squares and congregate beneath overpasses. Of course, there may be a little more personal security in the institutional setting.
As for the woman with the other people in her head - I am reminded of the instance where Jesus said, (loosely paraphrased) this kind go out only through prayer and fasting.
