Schwarzenegger signs major homosexual rights bill

sermonindex Sep 15, 2004

SACRAMENTO – Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed the first major gay rights legislation to reach his desk yesterday when he approved a bill that would require insurance companies to offer coverage to registered domestic partners. The governor's office announced his approval late yesterday without any fanfare or even a signing message explaining his decision. AB 2208, sponsored by Assemblywoman Christine Kehoe, D-San Diego, would require companies that offer health, life, homeowners and auto insurance to offer policies that cover domestic partners in the same way they cover spouses. Current law requires insurers to offer domestic partners coverage equivalent to a dependent, rather than a spouse. Gay rights advocates say the bill is a technical fix needed to pave the way for California's domestic partnership law, which takes effect next year. The law gives same-sex registered domestic partners a variety of rights and responsibilities now available only to married couples.

Well said Lars.Even knowing that this is the signiture for Intercessors Network, don't think it hit me until I heard an excellent message from Alister Begg the other day on this scriputre, it really challenged my thinking. In essence he laid a large charge against us all for NOT heeding this:1Ti 2:1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 1Ti 2:2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 1Ti 2:3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 1Ti 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. Believe it was this: http://www.truthforlife.org//MP3DArchive.php(Public Prayer: Its Importance and Scope Part A - 1 Timothy 2: 1-8)

Alister Begg the other day on this scriputreAlistar Beggs is a great speaker, he has spoken at keswick conventions and other spiritual awakening and deeper life groups. I have sermons by him on SI at one point but an agreement with his ministry was that it would be profitable for them to be just on their website for they charge a small amount to keep the radio ministry going. Thanks for the link Mike its a great resource.

Mike quoted:1Ti 2:2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. Just a thought:This Scripture states that we are to intercede so that we are able to lead quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. We are actually interceding for the brethren, not the authority. Remember in Scripture where Lot is surrounded by the evil around him. Scripture says something like that Lot's soul was vexed. He was not able to live in peace and quiet. It sounds like it was difficult for him to live a life full of godliness and honesty. What was God's solution to Lot's situation? What do we see surrounding us?How should we pray?In ChristJeff

The great and foundational chapters on Christian character and maturity, Matt 5-7, directs us to engage in prayer motivated by love, prayer for our enemies. We are certainly to pray for national and regional leadership for the sake of establishing godliness. L. W.

We must pray that God would cause the authorities above us to be born from above. Only a spiritual man can please God. In ChristJeff

It takes a lot of change in human nature to be made loving enough, priestly enough to love and care for men who produce a society where evil is turned into something which pretends goodness. It takes a lot of change in human nature to be made able to pray soberly when a world view is thoroughly established even among Christians which preaches tolerance and plurality as to truth and ethics. We must pray for change to come for the sake of sober, discerning intercession to reach a state where godliness is honoured once again.Lars W.
