Song about Peter

T
theopenlife Oct 8, 2009

I wrote a song today. It was written from the vantage of Peter on the water, in the garden, and on the shore after the resurrection.

Bonus: [embarrassing] audio version. I'm not much of a singer, but the bible says sings to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs.

Lyrics - Hands
Oceanside, CA

Your lips were the light
that lit my lamp.
I'll carry your words
with me in the dark.

Water came above
and threatened with a flood.
Behold the Son of God!

I don't have to tread;
You told me I can walk.
No wave you cannot calm.

You gave me your hand.

Midnight on my knees,
I fell asleep.
The spirit how it yearned,
but the flesh, it was so grieved.

You woke me as they came
to nail you to a stake.
Behold the Lamb of God!

I fought, I fell, I hid;
Denied my God, my friend.

You gave me your hands.

Mending broken nets,
I couldn't sleep.
All night and not a catch;
it gave me time to weep.

Who's that on the shore?
He bids me cast once more.
Behold the Risen Lord!

Overcoming me,
I dive into the sea.

Making bread and fish
for your friends
over silent coals --
-- like those that burn inside of me.

Once you changed my name,
but now I'm so ashamed.
You ask me, Do you love me?

Lord, you know I do.
It's small but it is true.

Go and feed my sheep.
I'm giving you my staff,
my Ghost, my keys, my kingdom.

Go forth, proclaim and preach
in every city,
every tongue and creature, teach them.

You are my hands.

Nice job Michael. I hear some appalachian folk influence and I like it very much!

Why thank you, Compton. Now if I only had instruments... and the skill to play them!

Wow!......I loved it! Faith filled!

Don't make it too slick...there's an earthy quality about just the way it is now that relates well.

I be impressed ! Glory!

It was great and catchy! What program did you use to record this with, if I may ask?

Thank you

Thanks! I used Cakewalk Music Creator and a Samson C0-3U, which I use for blogging and audio books making.
