Dietrich Bonhoeffer: "The Cost of Discipleship"

I find this book by Dietrich Bonhoeffer very delightful in his reflections on discipleship and on the Sermon on the Mount. His other book, Life Together, is also excellent.I recommend reading Bonhoeffer with his historical context in mind -- his life was one which was determined to live out Christ, despite the many ethical dilemmas that he faced (e.g. whether to participate in a conspiracy to assassinate Hitler or not).A comprehensive biography, a mammoth volume by Eberhard Bethge, Dietrich Bonhoeffer: A Biography, would be the definitive work on Bonhoeffer's life.

Big fat thumbs up. One of my favourites! A life-changer...especially the bit about 'what has cost God so much cannot come cheaply to us.' Something like that. Awesome distinction between cheap/costly grace.
