As Your beautiful sun rises each morning,
and spreads its warming rays over the land,
each man goes about his business.
Blind and in the dark, he gropes through the day
hoping that he might find the meaning of life.
Bound and constrained by the enemy,
the Truth is withheld, and the man retires for the evening
just as lost as he was when he awakened.
Oh God, my God,
When will this darkness end.
When, O Lord, will Your saving hand come forth
to break the strong arm of the enemy.
When, O Lord, will Your power come forth
to shatter every fetter and chain.
Oh God, my God,
Thy beauty is like the bright and morning star,
Leading, and exceeding, the wonders of the heavens.
Thou art perfect and true
and all of Thy ways art past finding out.
Your sweetness is the savour of my life,
and Your truth is my constant delight.
So come Lord Jesus, come,
For Your people perish for the lack of knowledge, they perish for the lack of the knowledge of Thee.
So come Lord Jesus, and awaken the hearts of Your people. That Thy Great and Mighty Name might be glorified throughout the land. Dispel the darkness, O Lord, that we might lift Thy name on high.
