Does anyone have any stories of true modern day miracles?

J
Jdl Nov 23, 2009

Hearing about miracles kinda offers me encouragement and ceases doubt for a bit, so I was wondering if anyone had any neat stories to share that couldn't be explained any other way than God's own intervention...I heard one where a jewish rabbi visited a church one day and went to the altar to be prayed for...a few people behind him laid their hands on him and began speaking in tongues...he actually heard someone speaking in hebrew about him and what God planned to do for him...he turned around with tears in his eyes and said "who here speaks hebrew?" And nobody said anything...he then asked one of the guys where he was from, and the man told him "from Ireland, but I don't speak hebrew"...the rabbi recognized the guy's voice as the one who was speaking to him those particular things...I thought it was pretty fascinating

One day I was addicted to drugs and alcohol. The next day I was not.

15 years of drinking, the last few spent drinking whiskey every single day. I used marijuana, cocaine, LSD etc… during those years. Towards the end I was abusing pain killers and sleeping pills while taking medication for depression, panic and anxiety attacks, and high blood pressure.

I was home alone. I became convicted of my sin against a Holy God. I cried out and asked for forgiveness. No preacher. No church building. No altar. Just me and God.

One day I was lost. The next day I was not.

This is obviously the short version, but miraculous just the same.

All praise be to God.

Hi jdl

You can read my own personal testimony of healing here http://scottishwarriors.wordpress.com/2008/02/13/anatomy-of-a-miracle/

And yet the greatest of all miracles remains the new brith.Physical miracles pale into insignificance in comparison to the new birth.

Jdl

I know you asked for miracles that can not be explained any other way so I just wanted to remind you that the greatest miracle of all is that a wretched terrible sinner such as myself (and you) can be forgiven by a Righteous, Holy, and Awesome God, if we repent and believe. God sending His only Son to suffer and die in our place is all we really need to know, don't you think???

God Bless

A year or so back, as we were worshiping in a small home meeting, a lady suddenly began going around the room sniffing things. Strange, we thought. Turns out her olfactory organs were severely burned by steamat age 8, 44 years previous, and for 44 years she had been unable to smell anything at all. God, in a moment, restored her sense of smell. All of the smells were totally new to her as she did not remember them. She even found a dead rabbit under the porch of her house, and rejoiced in the Lord that she was able to smell that as well.

Some young men in our fellowship spent a night in worhsip and prayer just a week ago. A young man with chronic TMJ (jaw disorder) was there. The men prayed for him, and heard his jaw audibly pop back into place. He has had no pain or symptoms of this disorder for a week now. The same thing happened to my wife a few years back. She has had no pain since.

Miracles are simply normal operating procedure with God.

Another man visited our fellowship about a year ago who, unknown to us, had been to the Mayo Clinic and was diagnosed with a fairly advanced stomach cancer. God gave a word of knowledge to a man in the fellowship who prayed for this man about something awry in his stomach. His next trip to Mayo revealed absolutely no cancer. The doctors were a bit puzzled and this man had ample opportunity to share Christ with them.

I have often read accounts of Smith Wigglesworth, John G. Lake, etc. and the miracles that accompanied their ministries and wept with joy over how much God loves us and the joy that those people undoubtedly felt.

True, without salvation we are lost forever. But God is concerned about our physical bodies and our daily lives as well.

Praise His Holy name!

To me this qualifies as an ALL OUT miracle! I don’t know if any others will agree but that is ok, I’m giving God ALL THE GLORY!

Feb 20, 2008 We had a thick blanket of clouds over East Tennessee for about three days and I picked up my son from school and he seemed really down and I asked what was wrong and he said, “I’m not going to get to see the lunar eclipse tonight, it’s not going to be over us again until 2011 and I’ll probably be on the other side of the world in the military then.” I took his hand and said, “Let’s pray.” I remember asking the Lord to push back the clouds so Sam could see the eclipse and I closed with “Lord, my son says you never speak to him, I’m asking for him not me. Amen.”

For only being in 10th grade, that kid had more faith that he’d see that eclipse than I did! He kept running outside every 15 minutes and had his telescope outside waiting! He’d get on weatherunderground.com and the news was even saying we’d miss it, so I went on to bed a little before 9 mumbling “if it comes out wake me.”

He came running in my room about 9:50pm and said, “Do you want to see the lunar eclipse?” Throwing back the covers I said, “I wouldn’t miss this for the world, buddy!” He ran outside and I got dressed and when I walked outside I looked up and the stars were sparkling under a clear black sky! I got all choked up thinking about God showing Sam how much He loved him (which is what I’m doing thinking now). It didn’t stop there, I stepped out further while looking up and saw a perfect round clearing around the moon and the clouds looked exactly like they had been pushed back in a perfect circle. I wish I could’ve taken pictures but I don’t know how to take night sky photos.

We saw a couple of neighbors out and went over to talk to them. They said too, “I thought we weren’t going to get to see this but at the last minute the sky cleared up enough to see it.” I told the Lord, “I’m telling ‘em.” So I casually shared about the prayer and the husband and wife just looked at each other!! And for an extra UMP!, before midnight the clouds went back together and a thick blanket of clouds hovered over East Tenn for about three or four MORE days!!

God is so good! Sam is not on a good path at this time but I’m trusting that the Lord knew this when He pushed back the clouds for him and that He is in control. Nothing takes God by surprise! I just humbly thank Him for being so visual to my sons.

My youngest son is 9 and when we brought him home from the hospital everything seemed fine. My in-laws were over that evening and I asked my oldest son who was 8 at the time to turn the stereo on for me. Well the volume was at an extremely high level for some reason and the stereo came on with a loud "boom" and the baby didn't jump or react at all. So we began clapping and shouting but there was no response at all . He could not hear anything we were doing. Tears came to our eyes and we immediately got on our knees and prayed to God for healing and the grace to receive whatever His will was for our son. The next day we took him in to the hospital and had him checked and he responded normally. Praise God!!

Here is a testimony of how God healed me earlier this year. I posted it on my blog and I have just copied and pasted it to here:

Well, about a year ago, I had a very bad whiplash injury. It was in a freak swimming accident and this laid me out for several months. God provided, through some Christian friends, all the resources needed to go to a chiropractor. The treatments helped and I got better.

Then a couple months later, I re-injured my neck and this time my back was affected. I was in severe pain much of the day and it even kept me awake at night. I battled trusting that God knew what He was doing and wondered if I'd ever get better. Then depression set in. I struggled with thoughts and feelings I'd never felt before. "Was God really listening to my cries of pain?" "Is He as loving as I thought He was?"

I read a book called The Problem of Pain by C.S. Lewis. This proved to be a real turning point for me. Mr. Lewis pointed out that the Bible says the God is love. Therefore, if I did not see Him as that or what He was allowing into my life as loving, then I could know there was deception in my life about who and what God is. When I realized that God was more loving then I could ever imagine, my doubts began to go away. Also, at this time I tried meditating on Scripture passages that talked about God's love and how He was my heavenly Father.

That was the beginning of my mental healing. The physical was yet to come. There were times that I'd start feeling a little better, but not much. I'd spend my time in reading (I've read 66 books since Oct. 18, 2008), Bible study, and other things that didn't require much physical activity. I learned much through the books I read and the extra time spent in the Word and in prayer.

Then last Friday (May 29), I went to a friend's graduation party. A very dear pastor friend of mine asked me how I was doing and I told him that I was only doing a little better. He put his hand on my shoulder and prayed for me. Almost right away I started feeling better. Then the youth went out and began playing Ultimate Frisbee, which is a game I love to play. Several of them asked me to play, but I was fearful I might hurt myself again. However, as I stood there battling the fear within me, I felt God tell me I was to play. I obeyed and was amazed that I didn't hurt after some rough plays out on the field.

The next day I helped some friends move and I even carried some heavy things out and loaded them onto the truck. Again, I didn't hurt except for some muscle pain, which is totally understandable after I'd been inactive for so long.

Since the Lord touched my body and began the healing, I have had to rebuke the enemy and remind myself that I am healed through Jesus' blood. I thank God for this amazing turn He has brought into my life. May all the glory go to Him!

Thank you Lysa for that testimony, the LORD has done that on many occasions for me and I enjoy reading about others who in asking just for a little thing like that God response to something that we think is insignificant. It just goes to show how close He is to us and how personal He desires to become in our every day lives, even if it includes Him in a game of Extreme Frisbee.

There are many testimonies of demons being cast out and people being healed coming out of the ministry called Gospel for Asia. I saw K.P. Yohannon 2 weeks ago in Philadelphia. He testified of these signs and wonders among the poor and downtrodden.

http://www.gfa.org/

Last year, 570000 were baptized in this ministry. All that were baptized were discipled for a month before they were baptized. Over 6000 Believer's churches were founded last year. Each of these churches have at least 50 people.

In Christ

So true, HE does love us! Just like he provided for Israel in the desert, their every need; He so wants to do that in each of our lives too.

Everyone's testimony is awesome! None is small, like DT said! If God is in it, then it ain't small!! (huge grin)

In 1996 I was travelling in Madras, India, and was able to visit a Reinhart Boenke crusade. By virtue of the ministry we were travelling with, I sat on the platform a few feet from where Brother Boenke preached, to a sea of people...hundreds of thousands....you could not see the end of the crowd sitting 15 feet above it.

During his preaching, I heard a shout of joy by hundreds, like an echo, perhaps 7 or 8 hundred yards from the stage. It looked like a stone was thrown into a lake, and something was inching toward us on top of the water, like a lady bug.

As it neared, you could see that it was a round basket, about 3 feet in radius. There was a young girl in it.

A young girl, perhaps 12 , who was crippled from birth, felt life enter her legs. The basket was her travelling carriage; carried on the back by ropes, when she left the house. The crowd was hoisting the basket over their heads, and she floated on top of it, as each pair of hands moved her forward over their heads.

When she arrived at the stage, Boenke, reached out with his hand, and steadied her on the platform. she wobbled and shook, and her legs were about the diameter of a golf ball, with the knees larger, like baseballs. Her legs were a skeleton; but she was beaming. I'll never forget her. She stood , though shaky, for the first time ever.

Boenke then asked everyone to close there eyes, as he prayed. I said to myself; "I'm not going to miss this one!", and kept my eyes fixed on her, as he prayed.

As he did, I witnessed a swirl of movement around her legs, and then, as he finished, he took her hand, and began to slowly walk around the stage. as she walked, I noticed her legs more full, and then she began to skip, and then run, and then LEAP, with all of the grace and beauty of a ballerina, like a beautiful gazelle girl.

AS this was happening, her bones for legs changed, and well formed muscle adorned her thighs and calves...perfect strong and beautiful, perfect dancing legs appeared on this young lady.

The Crowd Roared and shouted, and some wept for joy. I was stunned, however, in unbelief, in WONDER! I literally could not believe my eyes.

As I watched, I saw something else. I saw an orb, like a full halo, about 3 feet around her...kind of in her, and around her at the same time. Inside of that orb, was a MAN, with loving eyes, longer hair, and a beard. It was no doubt the Son of Man. It was he who was the Master of ceremonies all along.

As she stood with the evangelist, beaming , she reminded me of an angel. Her complexion was slightly changed, into a rosy perfection, and her head appeared larger, her face mature and very beautiful. She had truly been touched by the Master. 5000 people came forward believing on Him, and more later through the evening.

I ministered to them throughout the night. It was one of those good nights...very rare. Jesus showed himself as Lord over nature, and the true Miracle worker.

A nice lady at my old church had large tumors in her ovaries so surgery was scheduled but before the procedure they took xrays again and the tumors were gone. I have seen both sets of xrays and they are definitely gone. Praise the Lord. After much prayer the Lord saw it fit to bless her and act as the Great Physician and heal. Thank you Jesus!
