I listened to this sermon today, it pierced me like an arrow, thought I would share my notes here...
1Sa_4:21 Ichabod - the glory has departed. The people of God robbed of the glory of God as symbolized in the Ark.
When Solomon built the Temple he dedicated it to God in prayer, fire fell and the glory filled the house. No flesh could stand. The glory had returned.
Eze_8:1-6 Why does the glory leave the temple? The image of jealousy in His house, an idol standing in the house of God where only He should receive glory. When we set things up in the place that only God can have, His anger rises and His glory departs.
Eze_8:7-12 Secret things in God's house, but God does see all. If we're not real with God in every area 24/7 then we're grieving the heart of God and He departs. Who are you in the dark? Who are you in the home?
Eze_8:13-16 weeping over vain things but not weeping over the lost souls of men. Backs toward the temple, worshipping the sun. Dark hearts and foolish minds. Holding the truth in unrighteousness.
Eze_8:17-18 is thing a light thing? men entertaining themselves with violence and utter vanity. God departs and does not hear their prayers.
Eze_10:4 Eze_10:8 God leaves reluctantly, slowly, so patient and merciful, but surely He will depart if men don't repent. All that is left is judgement, this is why Christ wept...Luk_19:41-44
Do we know the time of our visitation? Judgment is at the door, how God is weeping over the state of the church in our day. We must watch and pray as never before, weeping between the porch and the altar.
Is there hope? Hope is found in the Lord Jesus Christ alone, He is the King of Glory, when He comes the glory of God returns. He must come and take His rightful place in our hearts and in His church.
Psa_24:1-10 The glory returns! Those who seek His face with clean hands and a whole heart, sanctified tongues. It's all about this King of Glory! All of heaven worships Him, oh that I would worship only Him.
Every idol must be torn down and the chief idol is the self-life. We must be on the cross and Christ must sit on the throne in our hearts. He must have His rightful place in our hearts.
1Co_6:19-20 - you are not your own, bought with a price, therefore glorify God... He must have complete control in the heart.
Isa_60:1-5 Arise, thy light is come! His glory shall be seen and we will be compelled to go out into the darkness and see lost sinners saved.
