In the weekly SI prayer conference call last Tuesday brother Frank shared the April 9 devotional from ~~[i]~~My Utmost for His Highest[/i] titled ~~[url=http://www.rbc.org/devotionals/my-utmost-for-his-highest/04/09/devotion.aspx?year=2009]~~Have You Seen Jesus?[/url].

Since then I have been considering how much I need a fresh unveiling of the Lord Jesus. It seems that in the Bible God's way of dealing with situations that have gone wrong is to first set up a positive standard, the standard of His Son, before dealing with the negative things in warnings and judgment.

For example, in the book of Revelation, before God deals with the seven churches there is a fresh "seeing" of the nature and character of Jesus Christ and His work on the cross in chapter 1.

I believe that the answer to many of my own failures and the failures in the church is a new inward "seeing" of Jesus Christ in all His fullness. There's a wonderful old hymn verse that goes...

I have seen the face of Jesus,
Tell me not of aught beside;
I have heard the voice of Jesus,
All my soul is satisfied.

There's some wonderful sentiment there but I have to ask myself if it is true in my life. What do I want beside Jesus? I don't even know my own heart. Oh how I need to see Him anew.

I think it would be good for us all to see Jesus anew in the coming year. The One who came to this world in Bethlehem and will soon return. The One who is unveiled in Revelation 1 as;

1) The faithful witness (v.5)
2) The first begotten of the dead (v.5)
3) The prince of the kings of the earth (v.5)
4) The one who has washed us in his blood (v. 5)
5) The first and the last (v. 17)
6) The living one, alive forever more (v. 18)
7) The holder of the keys of death and hell (v. 18)

I have had a clear view of Jesus; I have seen Him,
felt Him, and I have known Him in a far deeper way
than simply by outward appearance. I have felt
the reality of His life begin to burn in my heart.
I have seen in Christ the glory of a life that is
totally yielded to the sovereignty of GOD. That
glory has begun to take hold of me, and I have
begun to see this is the one life GOD expects
of any man HE has made in His image. I have
seen the marks of the cross put upon Him; and
by His grace the marks of the cross have been
put upon me and I am no longer my own; I am
bought with a price, redeemed by His precious
blood. Yes, I have seen Him--not in the physical
sense only, but in the inward sense of a deep
spiritual reality. I have had a clear view of
Jesus, and my life will never be the same again!!

Oh praise the Lord, praise the Lord. Yes, to "see," Jesus is to be ruined for this life, ruined for it. Thanks brother Ron for your humilty in your comments. The Lord is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. I think this is going to be a good year for you brother, for it surely seems that as "the deer panteth for the waterbrooks, so your soul longeth after thee."

So this seems to be a good question, have you seen Jesus in the way that Oswald Chambers talks about, the way brother Ron is speaking about, the way Alan Redpath spoke about, the way countless saints down through the ages spoke about. Can I suggest that it is people who have "seen," Jesus, people who have been an eyewitness to His glory, that change his world for Him. If you have not "seen," Him this way, then today would be a good day to hunger and thirst after Him, His presence, His glory. When you are touched by His presence and His glory then you will glorify Him..........brother Frank

This is right on the mark.

And I would say that this involves a great warfare. This is being greatly resisted by the forces of darkness in this hour. We need to persevere in making this our one pursuit-- to SEE Him afresh!
