God opened her eyes...

E
enid Jan 5, 2010

The title is taken from this scripture in Genesis 21v19.

'Then God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. And she went and filled the skin with water, and gave the lad a drink.'

Isn't it the case, that we can be reading the scriptures for years, and then suddenly, it is as though it's new, the meaning has been unveiled, God opens our eyes?

And it is something to rejoice in.

As with Hagar. Surely she had given up. Surely, in her eyes, the end was near. And then, God opened her eyes.

As God opens our eyes, we should be thankful that He does so. It shows we are His. It shows His concern for us. It shows we are not alone, though we might feel as though we are.

God opened her eyes. He will do the same for us.

God bless.

Enid, that is the key to our understanding of the Bible. And yet so many of us are content with the mere letter, with the form of doctrine, without revelation, without life.
