We Shouldn't Act Superior!

sermonindex Jan 12, 2010

There is a thread here about the Fighting Fundamental Forums. I observed that the comments made there by some of the members of Sermon Index were not in good taste. We are Christians and we must conduct ourselves with grace and humility. What is the point of poking fun at the people in the FF Forums? Doesn't it reflect pride and a certain arrogance? We are in no way superior to other Christians. We have been saved by God's sheer grace & mercy.

Let us fear & tremble that our latent pride & arrogance will not lead us on the path to full-fledged Pharisee-ism.

I say this, brothers & sisters, so that we may beware of the 'Pope Self' within us.

Very good point. The only person we should ever compare ourselves to is Jesus. If we do that, we would never judge another living soul because we are just as rotten if not worse than them.

There may be someone whom you don't agree with on his/her view of a scripture...but just maybe, you could agree with yourself that they may have more light on it than you. Or vice versa. No need to argue.

Some who are first will be last and some who are last will be first.

I was reading this morning "some" from the message bible and I felt this verse the way they wrote it ties into this thread well:

"So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place. quick to forgive an offense." - Colossians 3:12-13 (MESSAGE)

Oh that we would esteem others greater then ourselves. Only by the grace of God we can do so.
