To All You Elijah Types Out There ...

This post is not for everybody ...This post is to any, and all of you, who know that yours is not the normal Christian experience of today's standards ... To all of you who at first thought, and/or am thinking to yourself right now, that something is wrong with you, because you just can't seem to settle into the comfy, cozy apostasy of modern Christianity ... To all of you who know that God just won't leave you alone about His pain, and His almighty desire for our willing repentance back to holiness, and purity ... To all of you who'd like to run as far away as you could from what you know/sense is a prophetic calling ... but can't ... Don't run! ... Know why? ... Because Jesus is about to force feed His Bride a new diet of His own brand of fruits, flakes and nuts, to clean out our digestive system of the poisons gathered there, to make us regular once again, and to slim us down via His Holy ruffage from the excesses of our apostate indulgences ... We're going to fit into that wedding gown yet!!! ... So just hold on just a little while longer all you jesters for Jesus, cuckoos for Christ, and weirdos for the Word, for all of the pain, anguish and unction you've been thru, will soon begin to make startling sense to you, and will become even more acutely literal to your detractors ...i got this in an e-mail this morning, so read, believe, take heart, and keep the FAITH! ... What glor-ious days these will be, when such ministries arise to defendthe name and the honour of the Most High once again.The following is an extract from the book "Placebo" by HowardPittman. Mr Pittman was a Baptist preacher who, on 3 August,1979 (25 years ago), went into a near-death coma following the sudden ruptureof the main trunk artery in his body cavity and the collapse ofhis veins through blood-loss. He was brought back from the deadtwice by the doctors who were working on him in the hospital,and it was during this period that his spirit was transportedinto the heavenly realm and he was shown much about his ownlife, the state of the church, and significant events that layin the immediate future by God.One of the startling facts that God first placed before him wasthat his self-righteous life of Christian work, passing outtracts, etc, was an 'abomination' in God's sight, as it was alldone from selfish, pharisaical motives. This was a completeshock to Howard (as you can imagine) but he realized that itwas absolutely true. Another thing that God told him to tellothers when he got back to earth was: "For those who call them-selves Christians, this is the Laodicean Church Age in which welive. By working through His soldiers, God will producegreat miracles that will shake the established hierarchy of theso-called organized religion that is in this world today. Thesesoldiers that God is now recruiting will demonstrate the powerof God to a greater extent than did the disciples in the Pente-costal age. Some will be even greater demonstrations than thatof Elijah... God's recruitment for this army has been going onfor some time. Some of these soldiers have been brought up to acertain level of faith and placed in a "holding" position wherethey shall remain until He has brought all the new ones up tothat level. Remember, the Bible says that He is the author andfinisher of our faith. It is going to be through the faith ofthe soldiers that God will demonstrate His great power. As wasstated earlier, for a long time He has been recruiting a few.Now the recruitment has begun in earnest because God is aboutto perform the great miracles through His army that He promisedus He would do in the Bible. John the Baptist brought the spirit of Elijah into this world and he did not even know he hadit. He denied it, but Jesus confessed that it was so. The pur-pose of that spirit was to make straight the paths of thecoming of the Lord."I declare unto you that you the soldiers who are being re-cruited now to join with those who have been recruited in thepast, will bring to this world the spirit of Elijah. Again thepurpose is to make straight the paths of the coming of the Lordfor He is about to come again! You that sleep, now is the timeto awaken! You that have been in that "holding" pattern foryears, look up! You're about to be put to work! To the new re-cruit, I would say study the Bible diligently and seek theLord's will in every aspect of your life. Time is short foryour spiritual training, but you will be used in ways you neverthought possible if you seek the Lord FIRST in your life."You who are to be chosen will be the soldiers of the latterrain as referred to in scripture. This recruitment is for theend of the great revival spoken of by the prophet Joel and be-gun on the day of Pentecost. The end-time of that great revivalis the beginnning of the latter rain, so you must prepare forthe battle with the discipline of a professional soldier."Know this also. There shall be a time or process of "culling"those who are not qualified to be a member of this "Gideon's"army. Just as in Gideon's army in the Bible, only a select fewwill be fit for service in the army of Christian soldiers theLord will use in the battle of the latter rain."These two points really stuck out for me because just last night(10/6/04) I was crying out to our Lord about how much in "limbo" i feel right now... Quote;You that have been in that "holding" pattern foryears, look up! You're about to be put to work! Aaaaaaaaaaaa-men! ... Bring the work on Lord Jesus! ... Bring the work on!... I still don't understand about this. I'm not making waves, I really want to know why this post is dangerous. Is it a lie? Well, maybe I'm just not supposed to know why...but, if a child reaches our to touch a hot stove burner and the mother says NO, then if the child asks why she says because it is very, very hot and it will burn your fingers. I know that's a childish example (no pun intended).

What is so offensive about this?

Haven't you read the prophets? Do you know what God made them do? Are you familiar with what the venerable Isaiah did for three years? how about Ezekiel? Hosea?

Perhaps you can elaborate on your displeasure. Is there something you see that reminds you of something with a bad witness? Please edify us by warning of false teaching and preparing the saints to identify what is wrong.

Perhaps a closing note, Greg has promoted sermons that teach that we are responsible for every word spoken. This is part of the reason there are strict guidelines regarding editing posts. I don't know if he has discussed it about posts and threads but strong comments have been made about the effects of deleted posts and threads on the continuity of threads and the forums. At very least, threads like this are a testimony of where the fellowship on Sermon Index has been. Greg has made several posts that include comments about how he has grown and changed while leading the site. Other saints have also experienced this and if one looks through the forums, you can witness it yourself and glorify God for His faithfulness to us.

Placebo, which includes his testimony and warnings, is available as a PDF online. The member wayneman posted a link to it awhile back but you can find it elsewhere online. I've seen the testimony and it may change your opinion.

Thank you for explaining why the post was dangerous and to be avoided. I felt the same way about the fruits of the spirit and discerned they were sorely lacking. But other parts about end times, etc. and the death/heaven experience I just took for granted that they were true. I think Jesus wanted me to see what the whole thing was; the lies and the deceiving spirit that delivered it. Thank you all so much for caring to help me. There will always be those who don't understand certain things. (Talking about myself here). So again, thanks!
