I think there is a reason this is at the top of the list of SI's most recommended list. I've listened to it twice now and wanted to get some other people's thoughts on it. I can hardly listen to any praise music anymore, especially the slower stuff we usually call worship. I find myself noticing humanism in just about every area of mainstream Christianity. The songs I hear are about what God has done for us, the sermons are about what God can do for you. Everything seems to be about us. I know Jesus died for us and that there are many blessing we can experience while still here on earth, but have we really moved so far away from the holiness of God? Where is the woe is me for I am ruined? Why is everything supposed to make you shout?
We talked in church this Sunday about God inhabiting the praises of His people. If you're going through a tough time, just praise Him and God will hear your cry. No mention of holiness, no weeping, no repentance, just praise him. There was even a message in tongues with interpretation. The man who interpreted said that if we praise God, He will give us the desires of our heart. How can this happen? God does not say He will give us the desires of our heart if we praise Him. It is if we delight in Him. Not His blessings, not heaven, not that we're not going to hell, but because HE is GOD!
1. A holy God seeks a holy people.
2. A holy God seeks a people who do not mind the thought of holiness.
3. A loving God seeks a people who believe in Him.
4. A loving God seeks a people who say they believe in Him.
5. God wants you to be blessed.
Have we gone this far? How deep is the enemy's infiltration into our churches? This message has really penetrated.
1Behold, the LORD'S hand is not so short
That it cannot save; Nor is His ear so dull that it cannot hear. 2But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear. 3For your hands are defiled with blood and your fingers with iniquity; Your lips have spoken falsehood, your tongue mutters wickedness. 4No one sues righteously and no one pleads honestly they trust in confusion and speak lies; They conceive mischief and bring forth iniquity. (Isaiah 59:1-4)
Is it as bad as I feel the Lord is showing me. I've been praying He would open my eyes. I've been praying against pride. If the enemy has gripped the gifts in my church... The people are misled by all of this. New Christians will be sucked into this. Is it really as bad as it seems? Can it be that no one pleads honestly. Is it all humanism and goose bumps and not the Holy Spirit? I know that not every church is guilty, but how bad has it really become?
