I work in a county jail and have for almost 15 years. One of the hardest things in a jail ministry is an inmate could be there 1 day and gone the next. Prison ministry at least guarantees a time frame. But we cannot limit the Holy Spirit. God can regenerate a heart in one bible study. I have found that being available to these men and women also helps. When they get out they need support. A local church, other men and women that can make them accountable and fellowship. In the church I attend, we had a recovery ministry for a number of years. I believe God used this to change the hearts of our people. It tendered hearts, helped our members with a judgmental spirit. I love to see a auditorium full of inmates I have got to know over the years. Long hair, tattoos makes for an interesting mix. As I always tell my co-workers, we are all a decision away from being in the same place, jail. They don't like to hear that.
