An Unusual Witness

H
HeartSong Mar 11, 2010

This evening as I sat waiting for my meal, I doodled on my paper place mat as I listened to a sermon on my iPod. This is something that I have done since I was a child because for some reason drawing as I listen helps me to hear better.

After I finished eating I felt led to add John 3:16 to my place mat and as I wrote it out I wondered how anyone would notice it as the restaurant was closing and all of the employees were rushing about doing their side work.

After paying my bill, I returned to the table to leave a tip and lo and behold, two of the waitresses had my place mat in hand and were closely examining it. They commented on my drawing as they continued looking at the place mat. There was no way they could have missed the Bible verse.

I left the restaurant with a big smile on my face - rejoicing in the ways of my Lord.

Isn't that wonderful Laura! All things being guided by His hand when He truly is our Master. Even in this situation, your were undeniably used as a witness without any foreknowledge. Those are the best testimonies seeing as they don't come from our own efforts.

God bless, Kathleen

I feel led to share my restaurant testimony here to encourage us all to realize #1 we need to be sensitive to the leading of the Lord in the smallest details of life #2 We are constantly being watched and don't even know it.

Many years ago a brother in the Lord ask me to sit down with his girl friend and just share with her. I asked the girl where she wanted to go and asked me to choose. I picked my favorite place all the way across town, even though there were many places closer.

We sat in a booth and I began to share how God had delivered me recently from jealously and rage. My husband of 8 years would be grilled everytime he went somewhere. In my mind he just couldn't be faithful, even though he never gave me any reason for my irrational behavior. I told her how after one of my screaming, accusing episodes, I fell before the Lord and wept what is wrong with me. The Lord spoke to you, "your problem is you don't trust Me, even if he does leave you, I never will". All of a sudden I saw how I was forsaken as a child, and my great fear that nobody would ever really stay with me or truly love me. The light of the truth of what cause my fear flooded my soul. The knowledge that I had nothing to fear because I belonged to Him also flooded my soul and the truth set me free.

After I finished this testimony the woman sitting behind the girl I was talking to got up and stood by the edge of our table. She said I am sorry, I didn't mean to eaves drop, but now I have to go home and tell my husband how I was in a restaurant and heard everything that I have been going through and the answer to it. She was weeping.

Well I was rejoicing, and the girl I was there with was totally awe struck at how God had orchestrated that entire time.

We truly are on His business at all times.

Thank you for sharing your testimony Heartsong

Also that encounte happened 25 years ago and I have never walked in that fear again and I am still married to my wonderful best friend and husband.
