Poem: America the Beautiful

sermonindex Oct 12, 2004

The story of Judge Moore may have taken place alittle while ago, but this poem of his can still touch our hearts because the condition of America remains the same.AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL by Judge Roy MooreAmerica the Beautiful, or so you used to be.Land of the Pilgrims' pride; I'm glad they'll never see.Babies piled in dumpsters, Abortion on demand,Oh, sweet land of liberty, your house is on the sand. Our children wander aimlessly poisoned by cocaine,Choosing to indulge their lusts,When God has said abstain. From sea to shining sea, our Nation turns awayFrom the teaching of God's loveAnd a need to always pray.So many worldly preachers tell lies about our Rock,Saying God is going broke so they can fleece the flock. We've kept God in our temples,How callous we have grown. When earth is but His footstool,And Heaven is His throne. We've voted in a government that's rotting at the core,Appointing Godless JudgesWho throw reason out the door,Too soft to place a killer in a well deserved tomb,But brave enough to kill a babyBefore he leaves the womb. You think that God's not angry,That our land's a moral slum? How much longer will He waitBefore His judgement comes? How are we to face our God,From Whom we cannot hide? What then is left for us to do,But stem this evil tide?If we who are His children, will humbly turn and pray;Seek His holy face and mend our evil way; Then God will hear from HeavenAnd forgive us of our sins,He'll heal our sickly land and those who live wthin. But, America the Beautiful,If you don't then you will see,A sad but Holy God withdraw His hand from Thee.

Wow, that really sums our nation's spiritual illness pretty well.Too bad Moore frittered away his position, and perhaps ops for making righteous change, when he stubbornly refused to remove the granite block he snuck in during the middle of the night in AL (if I have the right guy.)Paul wrote to follow the law and leaders. The 10 C's block should never have been an issue. What a waste... :-o But then, Jim Bakker wrote a great book after his prison term, so maybe Moore is being compelled to wax poetic. Nice poem...

Brother Lazurus, Your posting of this poem has put a real knot in my gut ... This says it all as to what our Lord has burdened me with, but people, even Christians, think it a joke, when you come proclaiming a message of repentance ... This is the part that really sticks out to me;quote;"If we who are His children, will humbly turn and pray;Seek His holy face and mend our evil way; Then God will hear from HeavenAnd forgive us of our sins,He'll heal our sickly land and those who live wthin".Sad to say that we, His people, are His biggest challenge ... He has me proclaiming to every saint, and preacher i meet, that He wants us at Joel chapters 1 & 2, RIGHT NOW! ... And i've had both saint and preacher alike tell me that it's not that simple ... Again i ask, "How difficult is it for Pastors to group themselves together and weep between the porch and the altar"? ... They seem to have no trouble getting together for fun filled convocations in distant places, but yet they can't get together in their own churches to take God's prescribed cure for all our spiritual ills, so that they can gain the power of the Holy Ghost to then call US ALL to solemn assembly ... God help them, and us!!! ...God's gonna bring His people to our knees lightning swift, right in the middle of our disbelief ... Judgment begins in the house of the Lord, and most of us are about to be caught unawares in it's fulfilment for our time ...Thanks for sharing this, it is now a part of my arsenal ...
