Christians in government/military?

I am not seeking to start a discussion, and certainly not an argument, on the matter, but am simply seeking some direction in regards to the topic. By direction I mean biblical support for belief in either direction, writing or sermons on the topic, or website with pages dealing with the topic.

My dad and I had a long talk about this last night, scared my mom out of the room (we get lound when we "talk"), and eventually agreed to disagree. I found that mostly I had opinions and gut feeling or leadings, but little scripture to point to.

I'm not really concerned as to which side you sit, but I would like to know how you came to believe the way you believe on the topic.

I'm not sure what you mean here. Any Christians involved in government (and that includes voters) will need to make choices that are wise and pleasing to God. That means following one's conscience. However, it would be wrong for the government to force non-Christians to pretend to be Christian.I was in the military for many years, and you couldn't or wouldn't do something that open and in full view of the installation without the go ahead of a superior officer or officers. After hearing what have been going on at the Airforce Academy over the years in regard to Jewish faith and others with the evangelicals and such, it doesn't suprise me.
