Proverbs 6:26-28 / 1 Corinthians 7:9 - How to Extinguish the Burning

So men and women, we all go through this or will go through this, the burning desire. We try out best to eliminate that which will cause the burning. But what are some practical tips when the fire has been lit?

1) Bible Verses-
I know there are many good verses to memorize for this area. Post some up, can't think of any right now!

2) Flee from the situation -
Whatever it may be, a woman, a television, a computer. FLEE!

"Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart." 2 Timothy 2:22

3) Prayer -
Go to God right away! Our flesh is weak, we need to humble ourselves and recognize we aren't going to do it by carnal means. The Holy Spirit will give us strength to overcome.

4) Know Yourself -
You should be able to know what triggers you, and eliminate it straight away! Whether it be television, or even social networking, when unbelieving friends post immodest pictures. Maybe there are certain women in your life that can cause this to arise, if so, make sure you are not alone with her!

5) Keep your your sight pure! -
"I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?" Job 31:1

I notice that when I am not watching television, listening to worldy music, or doing any activity that will feed the flesh, I am more stronger in pacify the fire when it is still an ember, which brings me to a next practical point...

6) Put out the ember before it turns into a fire! -
It will always be easy to extinguish passion in the beginning than let it burn.

Remember in all these steps, God's grace is needed, it is never done through ourselves, praise the Lord!

These are all I can think of right now. Feel free to post your critiques or any practical input. Also verses are welcome!

Men, be strong and learn to strive against your bodies, for much MORE pressing work of the LORD needs to be done. Let us learn to be temperate, disciplined, holy vessels unto the LORD.

We have no time wasting on fleshly sin! Teach us to number our days LORD!
