1st Time Street Ministy

Hey gang!
I'm getting ready to try our first street ministry, actual street preaching. I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on this topic. I've seen it done in a lot of different scenarios but I've never done it in my home town and just want to see what advice you all might have to offer.
I've grown very weary of hoping TV will reach people--even to the point of hoping that some of the stuff DOESN'T reach the masses--you know what I'm saying. So I feel this burden to go. So I have to go.
I used to frequent this site often, but lost my internet for awhile and a host of other firey trials kept me away, but I'm back. I'll tell you all about it later. Thanks! Dave Gifford (hia Krispy!)

I found Paul Washer to be a great example of Street Preaching, I have seen a lot of people do it and they just yell about everyone going to hell and its all disorganized and doesn't make any sense because they are just yelling the same passages and "catchy" Christians sayings about the end. Street preaching is a very intimidating experience, however, as you are faithful in following the Lords leading in this, you will be blessed. There will be times when you will wonder if you are reaching anyone, as there will be a steady stream of "comments" coming back at you, but the real treat is when someone out there at the side, or in the back comes up to you afterwards and engages you in conversation. Be encouraged by prayer, and fellowship before you go out, and watch God use yor faithfulness.. Many blessings Greg

I think it's called, Master's commission. I've seen some videos of them doing street ministry and I didn't like it at all. I don't see any love in it at all. Some guy with a mic picks someone off the street and begins to grill them with questions. Telling them they are a liar, adulteror...ect and that they are going to Hell. When I watched this video, I asked myself if this is how Jesus would minister on the streets...and the answer was not at all.

I mean the guy on with the mic never once mentioned how he was the same if not worse and how Jesus saved him from a life of destruction. I sat and wondered as the guy used both barrals of his shot gun if he was truely saved. I don't have a link at this moment...but I'll search for the video.

Jesus spoke with truth and love and from what I've seen, Master's commission doesn't do that. Just my humble opinion.

Richard365, I think what you may have seen is the method of going through the 10 commandments with people in an open air setting. I have not watched the video you have seen, but taking a person through the 10 commandments, they will admit themselves they are a liar, thief, etc.

The purpose of God's law is to convict of sin so that we can give them God's Grace and good news. Jesus used the 10 commandments on the Sermon on the Mount when he preached.

I see what you are saying...but I think Jesus took a set standards/laws (10 commandments) and took them to a much highier level in His Sermon on the Mount. It's so easy for me to not commit adultrey, but much harder to never look at a women with lust in my heart. Much easier to never murder anyone, but a much highier standard to never get angry.

In the video it seemed more like condeming someone. Anyone can walk up to a person and tell them they have committed adultery because of lust, but I think it's the Holy Spirit who will convict them. Show me through your life how you too were an adulteor and preach to me through your experience of Jesus saving you, how I can have this saving grace. That is a way to convict me...not to have some guy with a microphone pointing a finger at me saying I'll go to Hell. Sorry, maybe I'm wrong to think this way. And as far as Grace...I don't think that's anything any one man can give...You can give them the "good news", but it's up to them to accept God's grace through faith.
