DIVINE REASONINGS OF FAITH by Oswald Chambers

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Matthew 6:33

Immediately we look at these words of Jesus, we find them the most revolutionary statement human ears ever listened to. "Seek ye first the kingdom of God." We argue in exactly the opposite way, even the most spiritually-minded of us - "But I must live; I must make so much money; I must be clothed; I must be fed." The great concern of our lives is not the kingdom of God, but how we are to fit ourselves to live. Jesus reverses the order: Get rightly related to God first, maintain that as the great care of your life, and never put the concern of your care on the other things.

"Take no thought for your life. . . ." Our Lord points out the utter unreasonableness from His standpoint of being so anxious over the means of living. Jesus is not saying that the man who takes thought for nothing is blessed - that man is a fool. Jesus taught that a disciple has to make his relationship to God the dominating concentration of his life, and to be carefully careless about every thing else in comparison to that. Jesus is saying - "Don't make the ruling factor of your life what you shall eat and what you shall drink, but be concentrated absolutely on God." Some people are careless over what they eat and drink, and they suffer for it; they are careless about what they wear, and they look as they have no business to look; they are careless about their earthly affairs, and God holds them responsible. Jesus is saying that the great care of the life is to put the relationship to God first, and everything else second.

It is one of the severest disciplines of the Christian life to allow the Holy Spirit to bring us into harmony with the teaching of Jesus in these verses.

Last spring,
in just a very short period of time,
8 days,
everything that could go wrong seemed to,
even friends and family.

At first i began thinking about everything, and suddenly realized that it was all none of my business, having just given everything over to God as His own possession and recognizing everything in my life as His.

...for over a week...
Going to the Lord in prayer, He was told all the things recognized as possibly going kaput, or at least south. It was admitted it was all His, and if he wanted stewardship in anything besides what is plainly revealed in His word, He would have to reveal directly what to do.

Petitions done, He was thanked for all the things that he has used in life to bring closer relationship with Him, as well as what was going on at that moment. This was a time of reflection , recounting how things through time had been used by Him to conform me to His ideal: Jesus Christ.

After 3 days of praying regarding this, as well as the regular time spent in His presence, it was wondered if the answer was already given and i just wasn't listening.

From the time things started goiung wrong, to the extra time in prayer regarding this, it was well over 3 weeks before His answer came in a verse: Mt. 6:33.

Situations got even worse the whole time seeking Him.

In confidence of His response, concern about these things was quit with.

Instead focus was even more and more on obeying Him better... watching and listening in following His lead.

He had me doing things that were completely unrelated to normal responsibilities, to the point of many times often completely neglecting them.

It was amaazing.

Responsibilities normally thought regular things neccessary to do were taken care of for me when i just did whatever He wanted.

Within 4 days after doing as that verse said, everything that had gone so wrong had become way better than before they ever started becoming problems.

Something about,"take my yoke upon you..." could be said right here; but we'll try to keep it short.

Lk. 18:1-7,8 was another lesson learned in this; but, that's another post.

Mt. 6:33 is a life changing experience still.
