AMAZING SLEEP
Amazing sleep how sweet the sound, that stole my gift from me;
I once was whole but now I’m bound, was awake but now asleep.
The love of sleep I have embraced,
Labors all laid aside;
Fond dreams of bliss now fill my mind,
Christ’s call I’ve left behind.
When I’ve been bound ten-thousand years,
For sleep I must now pay;
My love of sleep hath claimed my soul,
In chains, in fears, and fright.
Awake oh child whilst be there time,
Love not the ease of sleep;
Our Lord’s great work must we attend,
March on with all your might!
