I always remember hearing a quote in one of the R A Torrey Missions when they handed out leaflets, The thing that they put on there Leaflets was talking about getting right with God?
What does this essentially mean?

It essentially means being in right standing with God, being righteous in His sight. Before we were born again, we were alienated from right relationship with God because of sin. Our spirit was, if you want to use this terminology, dead toward God. Not dead in the sense of having absolutely no life, but dead in the sense that a muslim who converts to Christianity might be considered dead to his family. (I know this is actually a reversed example, but it seems to me to be a fairly good way to understand it. It is not however that God does not desire relationship, but that He cannot have it. His will is relationship with us, but the sin we were born into prevents Him from having the relationship He longs for.) There is not possibility of relationship because of the enmity between the two. When we are born again, it is our spirit that experiences regeneration. It is as if we were reborn into a world where the enmity of sin does not exist. Because of the blood of Jesus, because we received His sacrifice applied to our own sins by faith, we are now in right standing with God through what Jesus did. This is what it means to "get right" with God. Because I am born again, I am now righteous before God and capable of real relationship with Him.
