Annointed for Burial

Hi, I just got through reading Anointed for Burial by Todd and DeAnn Burke about 2 weeks ago. However, I can't find anything else about them or by them on the web - except for a kind of wierd website that wasn't Christan based. Does anyone know what this couple is doing now?

Thanks, ruth

Here is his website, I believe:

http://www.toddburke.org/

On the page, it states, "Todd Burke died July 27, 2006, in an automobile accident."

On http://www.toddburke.org/Todd_Burke.html, it states, "He was a spiritual leader in Christianity until his late 30's at which time he left that role and began learning about other spiritual disciplines. His life was all about Spirit."

It sounds like he lost his way because of the death of his 11 yr old son.

I don't know about this couple, but the title is a famous phrase. There are sermons, such as by Esther Ibanga, which are well worth a listen. Interesting that we only begin to experience this anointing, after we have been born again, and the sacrifice of our clean life begins to mean something more to God than merely our reasonable service (Rom 12:1, 2).

I don't know this book or couple. However, it reminded me of a song by Dennis Jernigan.

Anoint My Heart for Burial
by Dennis Jernigan

Verse 1
The tree of myrrh is full of tears,
that only come forth when bruised.
But the fragrant life that wounding brings,
is born on the wings of Good News.

Verse 2
Like myrrh when hardened must be crushed,
before the fragrance can rise.
My blinded heart must be made dust,
so Father open my eyes.

Chorus
Anoint my heart for burial,
that I might walk in true life.
Anoint my heart for burial,
Release the fragrance of Christ.
Oh Lord, fill me with life let it pour!
Oh Lord then fill me with more.
Anoint me with oil.

Verse 3
Lord take my wounded heart and make,
a fragrance out of the pain.
I give my life a sacrifice,
bring fruit from this harvest of grain.

Chorus
Anoint my heart for burial,
that I might walk in true life.
Anoint my heart for burial,
Release the fragrance of Christ.
Oh Lord, fill me with life let it pour!
Oh Lord then fill me with more.
Anoint me with oil.

i loved that book, described their missionary experiences in pre Khmer Rouge Cambodia, and thought the same thing, "where are they now?".....never found an answer till what Lysa wrote, it IS a great book, and would make a wonderful film.

Todd and I went on a major trip in 1976 after the fall of Cambodia.
for three months we traveled into Thailand looking for people who may have gotten out of his churches. We heard first hand the stories that were later made into the movie "the Killing fields."
We were nearly killed but the Khmer rouge at the board with Thailand. Todd was good at risk taking and put us in danger more then once.
I tell one of the stories on my website www.youfreeweb.com/timsauder/

He died in a car accident so I guess he never changed.

I saw him years later as I ministered in his church. He left ministry and his wife. Turned to new age and now dead.
I lost contact in the early eighties so I have no comment on any of that. DeAnn was always sweet but Todd was very ego driven in my estimation. Sad end to a great story.
He was writing the book a little when we traveled.

Read what I wrote above: Todd died after a car accident. He and DeAnn divorced a long time ago.
I knew him well as we traveled together for three months.
