Prayer for my family

S
swimmer Jun 21, 2010

I would humbly ask for prayer for wisdom, guidance, and courage to do God's will this week. My wife of 24 years has demanded that we get divorced. We recently ended Godly marriage counseling, but I do not believe she will go back.
I could write an entire volume on this subject, but the bottom line is that there is not any justification for divorce, just a desire on her part to give up. I will not consent to a divorce, and I believe she will live with me under the same roof, just not with any resemblance to a biblical marriage. We have 3 grade school children.

I asked for prayer for courage, as I have found that God's will sometimes requires it.

Please ask questions if you feel led. I will respond as soon as I can, which may take a day.

Swimmer,

Sorry to hear of your situation; I'll be praying for you and yours.

So, if there is not justification for this action what is motivating your wife? What were the results of the counseling? How has your church been involved?

Also, how are the children handling this situation?

Yours in Him,
Matthew

i am praying for you, brother in Christ.

sometimes we learn what it means to "turn the other cheek", and say 'i loved you 24 years ago, 24 days ago, 24 hours ago, and i love you now and forever'.

thats just what came into my heart at this second, please forgive my audacity, i pray my words are pleasing to God the Father, amen.

Sorry, but I don't believe I can answer questions with the right spirit at this time. I am trying to get some time to fast and pray this weekend. I will try then to answer.

Brother I pray for you!

For some reason your wife is unhappy with her marriage and has also lost her love and commitment to you even though you all have children together.

As you seek God in prayer ask God to reveal to you where everything has gone wrong. This didn't just happen overnight but you must find the root of the problem with God's help and grace.

One important thing is that you must not focus on the things she is doing wrong but on the things that you can do in loving your wife as Christ loved the church and gave himself for it. Ask God what you can do to help her to restore her love for you.

Remember that Jesus loved us before we loved Him.

Blessings to you!

Continuing in prayer, brother. May you find encouragement and peace in Him.
