Who shall be able to stand?--Rev. 6:17

These words refer to that awful day when those who have rejected Christ shall hide "themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains," and shall say "to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: for the great day of his wrath is come." And "who" it is asked, "shall be able to stand?"

That question is one of major importance now. For if we would stand in safety and acceptance hereafter, before the all-seeing One, in His unclouded glory, we must know what it is to "stand" in Peace and safety now.

"Being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ; by whom also we have access by faith INTO THIS GRACE WHEREIN WE STAND" (Rom. 5:1, 2). We stand in the grace of a present acceptance. We stand "in Christ," not having our own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is of God through faith (Phil. 3:9). It is in that divine righteousness we stand, acquitted of every charge and justified from all things.
