Andrew Murray book

I noticed somewhere within your forum a couple of people that posted in reference to Andrew Murray. I believe these posts were several years old, but I cannot now locate them.

In the hope that one of these folks will read this perhaps they can assist me. I have a 1895 copyright hardback of Andrew Murray's The Spiritual Life. I got this years ago from my grandfather and I believe he got it from his parents. In any event, I am wondering if anyone has any idea how much this book would be worth today. I would like to insure it properly, however it is becoming difficult to learn a best value of the book.
Thank you for any assistance you may be able to provide.

Michael

Michael,

You could try contacting Dust and Ashes Publications; they sell some great antiquarian books (mostly on ebay). Their email address is: info@dustandashes.com.

Without actually seeing the book they may be able to only give you an ballpark figure but it could lead you in the right direction in terms of the book's value and if it would need to be insured.

Hi Michael,

I can't answer your question, but here are some links that probably can:

http://used.addall.com/Used/

http://www.curiocornerbooks.com/all5200.html

http://www.bookfinder.com/

http://www.amazon.com

Surely by comparing these site you will come up with a pretty good idea of the value.

Is it a first edition? That will have much to do with it's value also. (edit: it probably is after looking!)

God bless,

PS: I just looked on books.google.com and found this 1897 edition that had an 1895 copyright date...

http://books.google.com/books?id=tfjk3-tKcM8C&printsec=frontcover&dq=andrew+murray+
The+Spiritual+Life&hl=en&ei=X0IrTLuVGcWAlAeSz9DPAw&sa
=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CDQQ6AEwAA#v
=onepage&q&f=false

(if you copy and paste the url above you'll have to take out the 'returns' at the end of the four lines!)

On ebay I found a 1913 copy for $40.00, but who knows!!

God bless you,
