Solemn Assembly Called!

We will continue to reach out to the church as a whole to recognize July 25 as a day of fasting and humbling themselves before the Lord. Time should be spent in confession, and seeking His face for mercy. We know we deserve His wrath for the sins of the nation and the church. 'WE have sinned' is found throughout the prophets prayers; but, we seek the Lord that 'in wrath remember mercy.'

“Gird yourselves with sackcloth, and lament, O priests; Wail, O ministers of the altar! Come, spend the night in sackcloth, O ministers of my God…Consecrate a fast, proclaim a solemn assembly; gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land to the house of the Lord your God and cry out to the Lord…Blow a trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm on My holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble…Yet even now, declares the Lord, return to Me with all your heart, and with fasting, weeping and mourning, and rend your heart and not your garments. Now return to the Lord your God. For He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness; and He relents from doing harm. Who knows if He will turn and relent, and leave a blessing behind Him…Blow a trumpet in Zion, consecrate a fast, proclaim a solemn assembly, gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children and the nursing infants. Let the bridegroom come out of his room and the bride out of her bridal chamber. Let the priests, the Lord’s ministers, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, ‘Spare Thy people, O Lord, and do not make Thine inheritance a reproach, a byword among the nations." (From Joel 1 & 2)

These solemn assemblies are very important if we are going to see revival come to our nation.

We continue to see sin abound, evil winning the souls of so many. At the heart of life itself we see: chrisitnas bound by sin; families being destroyed; earthquackes (washington, dc this morning) drought found in some places, flooding in others; the church sits powerless without the effictive hope to win the day for our Lord. He has commanded of us that when we see such things we are to humble ourselves before Him - realizing we can do nothing, but all things are possible in Him; we are to confess our sins and transgression and seek His mercy; we are to pray and weep for the souls of our loved ones, the souls that have an eternity awaiting them in hell. 'It is time to seek the Lord'

I am 41 yrs. old. Thus far in July, 2010 I have seen more evil happening around me in the churches and in society than ever in my lifetime. Huge number of separations/divorces in marriage; gross immorality and sinfulness coming to light; continued judgements on the nation. And someone asked the question, 'What is going on?' And I have said, 'That is the wrong question. We, as Christians know what is going on. sin is abounding, evil is growing, the love of many is waxing cold. But the question is, 'Why is so much evil happening right now?' The simple answer - God is getting ready to do something. I beleive this with all my heart. We are praying and hoping that revival is coming to undo the onslaught of evil; perhpas He is getting ready to judge us for all our iniquites? He is Soveriegn and His ways are right. I am left praying continaully, 'LOrd, in wrath remember mercy'. I do not think it is any accident that all this is happening in our midst right before the Solemn Assembly, July 25 and our week long prayer time of BBtT. God wants to come; He want to manifest Himself to His children; He desires to show Himself mighty for us (II Chron. 16:9). But the question is, Will we prevail to this end in prayer? Do you see what is happening? Do you understand the time we are in? Is it not the most urgent, desperate of times we are in right now? Then let us seek Him, humbly, confessing, praying, yearning with holy zeal and passion for Him to come and rule and reign.

I believe that as well. I can't come to this gathering, but I feel deeply that the solemn assembly is what God is calling for in this hour.

Iniquity has certainly come to the full. It's overwhelming what has happened in our society. The darkness is thick darkness now.

What can it all mean, but that a Great Light is preparing to SHINE.

...But I would encourage you... I see you have a pretty full agenda set down. I'd like to suggest that you don't hold too rigidly to that... and give the Holy Spirit room to take things in His own direction, even if it means setting the agenda aside. Let the ministries sit among the people, and wait on the Lord together with them.
I think it's time for this, time to just be before the Lord, together, seeking Him, waiting upon Him... unable to do anything without Him.

I believe He wants to answer our cry, and make us the LIGHT of the world again.

Thank You brother for sharing and writing. We are in the most urgent of times. This requires us to respond with urgency. 'Who knows if He may turn and leave a blessing behind Him?' He is merciful and longsuffering and upon this we will wait. If He desires to put forth judgement, He is the Lord, His ways are always right. 'Tho He slay me, still will I praise Him'. But while we have time, let us seek the Lord and remind Him of His word, 'In wrath remember mercy'.
