Childlike Revelation

I am young father of two beautiful babies a two year old son and a one year old daughter, both of which are a complete joy to take care of (most of the time). :) God has used them to show me a few things about His character and thoughts towards me. I just thought it would be nice if we could share the simple things God has shown us through our little ones or even our older little ones. :) Maybe I can learn from those with more experience because the Lord knows I need wisedom when raising children. If there is something that God has taught you through children in general feel free to share it.

One very big lesson I learned through my children is how to love my husband more. One day my daughter said something that hurt my feelings. It bothered me for a couple of days, and then I let it go. God spoke to my heart that I can quickly forgive and forget hurts from my kids, but not so easily from my husband. God showed me that was wrong. I need to forgive and forget with the same love and mercy in both cases.

Love keeps no records of wrong.

One day my daughter was laying in her crib crying and so I went in a started talking to her, she started laughing and smiling at me. It brought joy to my heart to see her smile and laugh but even more joy that I was the one that caused the laughter. The Holy Spirit spoke to my heart and said there will be times when God the Father feels far away and you will cry but He is there, and when He talks to you and makes you laugh it brings Him such great Joy to be your source of Joy and Laughter just like this little one. After that God has kept my heart heart open to the little lessons my children would teach me I just started laughing and enjoying God's presense and encouragement He brought me that day.

That is such a good thing to seek after, Matthew! I have learned so much about God, His creation, my own wickedness through my 2 young children.

When our first was born (named Matthew :-) ), I had this sensation like I didn't even want him to KNOW abut sin. This made me think of the Garden of Eden and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. God told them NOT to eat of the tree of knowledge.

Then as Matthew got older i knew that children so often follow the wickedness of their parents. I felt desperate that I did NOT want him to be a perfectionist like me. (I was bad! And hardly loving at all in this perfection-ness.) So I began to seek God and God eventually showed me how my tendency toward perfection was really idolatry. In our love for our children we often will try to STOP our sin, if we are born of God, I believe.

Then, as the lady said, it helped her love her husband more. THIS IS THE TRUTH. God's way of FELLOWSHIP. He takes qualities of both parents and they are put into the children (physical or traits of personality). Perhaps your spouse is bothering you in some way. BUT, that little beautiful creature who either looks like the spouse or acts like the spouse...it somehow softens hardness of your heart. God's ways are so good.

Then of course, when you see your little beautiful (but naturally wicked) child acting a certain way and you start acting "where did he learn THAT?" You then may realize, "Oh. He learned it from me. Oh no!!!!"

There is so much. God is good to give us creatures like this and filter things thru His word. What teaching will come to us through all this! I'll try to think of more...

The Lord gave me revelation today through a poopie diaper :) My son had pooped and so I called for him to get changed and get a completely new diaper. Instead of coming to me to get changed he had his own agenda and wouldn't come to me. I then got up and carried him to get him changed while whipping him up he exclaimed EWWWWWW.

And oddly enough the Holy Spirit simply told me that God is constantly calling for us to come to Him so that we don't have to stay in our filth and sin but we must first submit our will first and come to the Father to be cleaned. :)

I love my kiddos and as I laid in bed the other morning (I worked all night got to sleep all day) I realized that me and my daughter sleep the same exact way, Our head has to be under something with a bunch of blankets on top. As I thought of this I also thought of my kids other funny manerism they do that just come with their personality. Then I thought of my sons grumpy attitude and his sweet and silly attitudes and realized that those things were something he learned from my wife and I as he grew up. I put these thoughts together and the Holy Spirit told me, When you become my Child born of the Spirit somethings you will just do naturally (like sticking your head under a pillow to sleep better) and others you will learn growing up in the Lord as you get to know and spend time with Father. THEN I Loudly proclaimed my infancy saying I am STILL A BABY! Quite happily I did this because I know when my children mess up its pretty hard to stay mad at them :)
