I am with thee to save thee and to deliver thee, saith the LORD.--Jer. 15:20
"Jehovah had promised Jeremiah protection from his enemies. His infirmity suggests that God had failed to do so." God's reply to Jeremiah is, "If thou return, then will I bring thee again, and thou shalt stand before me: and if thou take forth the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth: let them return unto thee; but return thou not unto them." Then comes the promise so full of gracious encouragement, of which the text above is a part. And what the Lord declares He will do for the prophet, every true witness for Christ may take as a divine assurance for himself: "I am with thee to save thee and deliver thee." A saved soul needs a daily salvation and a perpetual deliverance. He needs not only to be continually delivered out of the hand of the wicked, he needs to be kept in a state of deliverance from self-seeking and self-confidence. This salvation is found in the Lord's perpetual manifestation of Himself. "I AM with thee."
