Revival Resources and History?

Does anyone know of any good books that cover the history of Revivals. Any response would be greatly appreciated.

As far as books primarily emphasizing historical accounts and not the theology of revival, check out Mathew Backholer's works. He has a few books.

I try to look for firsthand accounts if I can.

Bartleman wrote some great historical accounts of Azusa Street. Also look for a book called, "They Told me Their Stories" in which people who participated in Azusa street recount the events that they saw.

Charles Parham's wife wrote his biography and accounts of the Topeka outpouring as well as Azusa Street. These can be obtained by contacting the Apostolic Faith Bible College in Baxter Springs, KS.

I found a neat book called, "Pioneer Life in the Old West" in which a Methodist Circuit Rider recounts his experience with and salvation at the Cain Ridge Revival. It was written in the mid 1800's but copies are still available on e-bay as I recall.

I think Gordon Lindsay researched and wrote on 20th century revivals.

Of course the audio of Duncan Campbell on this website give some great information.

Have you tried revival library. It is a good online resource.

Jonathan Edwards wrote about the First Great Awakening.

You may enjoy "Cycles of Revial" in this section which gives an overview of the revivals in the Old and New Testaments. Also, "The Effectual Revival Prayer of Moses" is exceedingly helpful. Both of these articles will direct you to specific Scriptures for study, since the Bible, as you know, is a great place to start when interested in the subject of revival. :)
