Book Recommendation:In His Steps

For those that are looking for an example of simple practical Christianity this book is definitely for you. As soon as I started reading it I couldn't put it down I am not almost done reading it and have enjoyed every minute of it.

Its about a church that pledges to ask the question what would Jesus do before making any decisions big or small. The outcomes of this are awesome and inspiring, Again anyone in search of the simpliest form of Christianity I would recommend this book by Charles Sheldon.

"In His Steps" is an old book...glad you are enjoying it, Matthew. It seems as though the older books are more inspirational then the newer ones. I found an old book a couple weeks ago and am reading it through the second time. It is "By Searching" - My Journey Through Doubt into Faith by Isobel Kuhn.

An excellent book. Many in the church know about the bracelets and stickers of 'WWJD'; 'What Would Jesus Do' but they do not know the book 'IN His Steps' that it came from; I recommend 4 books for Christians to read: IN His Steps; The Diary of David Brainerd; Pilgrim's Progress; and Foxes Book of Martyrs. Hey ginny let me know how that book is I am interested in what it is about sounds very good. I enjoy books about simple faith that through Christ Jesus ends up doing great big things, it helps me grasp the concept that I am just like the people in the story and that God uses the average person.

Hum I will have to check out the Diary of David Brainerd I have yet to read it but if its anything like the other books you recommend then it should be a pretty good book. I believe we have forgot what sacrifice for Christ Jesus looks like but IN His steps shows it plan as day, sadly the WWJD has become a gimmick rather than an actual question we ask ourselves amoung Modern Christianity. Its not the main question on our hearts but just a passing and fleeting one we don't seriously ponder or think upon.

Our campus fellowship back then have a collection of books, audio and video materials ( songs, sermons, instructions, and other messages) which could be borrowed for free for few days.

Those you mentioned sound very familiar indeed.

Indeed a good book. I 1st read it for free @ www.ccel.org; then, I found it, to my suprise @ a little bookstore in Dawson Creek for about $9.00 :o)

"By Searching..." is a great, simple, powerful book. I just finished reading it to my wife last night. It probably hit and inspired a bit more for us as Isobel is from Vancouver, and we're just a couple hours away. The familiarity just made it that more powerful.

That great to hear about "In His Steps". An old Gideon doctor handed me a copy after I lent him God's Smuggler, but I haven't got around to reading it yet. I guess I'm guilty of not thinking much of it, but after this recommendation I'll have to put it closer to the top of the "to read" pile.

Matthew, Isobel Miller Kuhn was raised in a Presbyterian home. She was well taught in the WORD. Then she went to college and had the misfortune of having a professor in her freshman year who challenged her faith and she fell into atheism. There she stayed until her senior year when through a series of events God allowed her to reap the consequences of living the self-life.

The process which God used to bring her to himself is not the ordinary path for most people. But it does teach that when there is one who pursues God as Isobel did, He will show himself. Isobel was a 20th century version of a female Thomas.

Profound book - the best I have read in a long time.

WOW Great Book Just finished its quite awesome but there is an element of sadness to it as well, that so many people don't catch the vision that Jesus laid before them in scripture. WHEN OH LORD will we take You at Your Word!
