Did Jesus get annoyed by personalities?

S

I don't really know how to address or ask this but I need advice as I work in full-time ministry.

I'm really getting annoyed by everybody. I know people are people whether there saved or not. But there's one girl who does nothing but complain about the temperature in the office all day, another guy constantly gives me high 5's and I want him to stop, another guy who takes over every conversation, and so on and so forth.

Is this for life? Can I address things I don't like or do I just deal with things I don't like until the day I die?? LoL

I'm wondering if Jesus got annoyed by the different personalities of his disciples.

Some times I think the Lord allows these things so that we may press into Him more. It's a way of chastening, I think. To have deeper more intimate fellowship with Him, and less with our carnal way of doing things. :)

JESUS was annoyed with hypocrisy, with
injustice, with unrighteousness and sin
but showed compassion. Can you do that??

haha yes! ;p

Every time she does, quote verses on how complaining is a sin.

another guy constantly gives me high 5's and I want him to stop

It takes two to high five.

another guy who takes over every conversation

Talk to him in private or leave the conversations. Or, if those don't work, learn to be a good, quiet, patient listener. Practice patiently and quietly listening to someone you don't want to listen to. And think about how Jesus felt when people spoke to him.

Maybe you are on the verge of burnout?

Maybe a vacation would do you good. I will sympathize with the high five guy though because I love a good high five :)

The things you mentioned can be dealt with in the manner that Koheleth explained. When you stop and think about it, there is always a decent way we can let people know how they trespass against us, rather than reacting emotionally and creating hurt feelings.
Having said that, the best way to deal with people we can't stand is to pray for them. Seriously, it works! Don't say, "Lord whack him, he goes on my nerves", but something like, "I bring Joe before you, Lord. He seems to have a need to be noticed. Father, you know him better than anybody. Bless him richly and reveal yourself to him". You'll be surprised how you own attitude changes!
Have fun. :)

I've no doubt that the Lord has been annoyed by my personality more than a few times. :) So have I.

Probably."If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, pick up his cross..[ death ], and follow me."

LOL

And I can Amen that about me...actually I have been annoyed with my behavior more often then other peoples'! We're not talking about sin, just saying, doing stupid things...and age means the stupid things you do just changes...Sometimes wonder how God can stand me?!

another guy who takes over every conversation, and so on and so forth.

I would like to share a story...

I worked at a Crises Pregnancy Center for many years as a volunteer. One of my co-workers was a woman who talked non-stop from the time she entered the building until she left. Her topics usually centered around two themes: me and 'what the Lawd' has done. It got to be really annoying. Her focus on herself practically destroyed her 'testimony' of what the Lord did. She knew virtually nothing about me, even though we worked together. She did ALL the talking - one could hardly get a word in edgewise. It did not take long until I decided to let her talk and I learned to tune her out. She eventually left - I think she was dismissed by the director.

Anyhow, now if I chance to see her elsewhere she will actually talk to me, but little personal info is shared.

Such is life...one lives and learns. Her constant chatter taught me the importance of listening: listening to others, asking them questions and again listening to what they have to say. You enter into their life by listening.

And I also learned that people get tired of you when all you do is talk about yourself. I did get amused that one can be so self-absorbed and find yourself so interesting....

Oh well...I survived and now can look back and actually appreciate the lessons this lady taught me...Yup, one needs a lot of grace (divine enablement) to love people who annoy.

Blessings,
ginnyrose

I think you have to pick and choose your moments but I believe that addressing these issues is not always a bad thing. If you're annoyed, chances are it annoys other people as well.

It might be annoying to you but in the end, the people who truly get hurt are the people who are annoying because people will avoid them and they will be isolated and have no friends.

I knew someone who wasn't socially savvy told me once that "the nice smart people would always give me pointers on social etiquette in a very nice way"

I believe that is the best way. And yes I know God made people annoying for a reason. And we are all usually annoying to somebody. But I believe God made people annoying so we can prove our love for Him. If people weren't annoying, it would be easy for us to love. And how can God bless us in heaven if life here wasn't HARD?
