It is about Jesus Christ and His redemption He offers to the entire world.
But also the scriptures are written for admonition and all the things that happened to Israel are for our "example" upon who the ends of the world have come.
God requires obedience from His followers and He makes the provision for obedience. It is not just imputed to us, we have to obey by God's mercy and power in our lifes by the Holy Spirit.

There is something that is taught in this movie that is not found in the Scriptures but instead a Calvinistic doctrine that has become very popular lately.
It says in the movie that Jesus perfect obedience was imputed to us.
Instead, the Bible teaches that Christ lived a perfect life that when he was nailed to the cross, his death was not for any sin that ha had done but to pay the penalty for our sins and grant us forgivness.
Many people would watch a movie like that and are caught up in the wonder of seeing Christ in the lives and events throughout the whole Scripture, but also swallow the lie that we do not have to live obedient life. After all, it is all about Christ and bot about us. Jesus have forwarned about such deception in the last days that many will come in my name saying I am the Christ and decieve many. The Bible teaches that at the point of Justification, our sins were imputed to Christ and His righteousness imputed to us by faith in Him. After that, by His indweling Spirit we can live a sanctified life. If Christ perfect life of obedience was imputed to us that it doesn't matter how we live, then why does the Bible tells us to obey. Why does God require two fold obedience. There is a very good sermon on the difference between the work of Christ in justification and sanctification by Major Thomas called "Christ made perfect" , Also Allan Martin has a sermon called:" True Salvation. Please lestin to them. May the Lord our God purify His church from all lies.
And yet, within each "type" are real men doing real things to portray Christ. It is an utter imbalance and an improper handling of scripture to not see the dynamic between the two ideas.
Abraham was real...Isaac was real...Job was real...David was real...
The bible is a "Two-Edged" sword.
To not see Christ as was pointed out is a failure, to not see those whom did these works by faith is also a failure. It is about BOTH!

The Bible is BASICALLY about the same thing eternity is about.
It seems we are so wrapped up in preventing error that glorifying Christ is less important than making sure men are properly accounted for and less important than our soteriology.

You are absolutely right. God's truth is like a double edged sword. If we fail to see Christ as the outhor and finisher of our faith, or if we neglect so great a salvation, we do harm both to ourselves and to the Gospel.
The mysteries of the knowledge of God are like an ocean so deep that only those who have a child-like faith will make it safely through to the other shore.

Disobedience entered through one man, obedience and fellowship returned through another...
What is it that you must obey? And what if you do not? Are you referring to the 10 commandments?
I am not sure that this shouldn't either be another thread, or an opportunity to plug the "New Covenant" thread that brother Ron has been moderating. I think that he, and many others, get to the kernel of this question well.
God is not content with scraps to be satisfied with 10 commandments or even a hundred or a thousand. However, the heart of the commandments from the very beginning was and is to love the Lord with the whole heart, soul, mind, and strength. The Pharasses obeyed the 10 commandments. They did not make graven images, commit adultery, murder, or violate the sabbath. But Jesus law says: if you hate your brother, you are a murderer.
God requires our all, just as Christ was nailed on the cross for us, so we also aught to carry our cross daily and follow Him. Just as He laid His life for us, so we also aught to lay our lives for the bretheren. That is obedience. Please read the sermon on the mount. If our righteousness does not exceed the righteousness of the pharasses and scribes, we will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. For God require and inner obedience, motivated by love. Christ can do that in us by the Holy Spirit.
Regarding the Law, let me share Romans 7:6 in two translations.
"But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit and not in oldness of the letter." (NASB)
"But now we have been released from the law, for we died to it and are no longer captive to its power. Now we can serve God, not in the old way of obeying the letter of the law, but in the new way of living in the Spirit." (NLT)
Let me add to those Paul's exhortations to walk in the Spirit in Galatians 5:16, 25.
"But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.
"If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit."
