Thousands Flock to Alabama Revival Meetings

Former Brownsville Revival leader John Kilpatrick says the blind are seeing, the lame walking and the deaf hearing at what he believes may become another long-running revival.

Since mid-August, he said, thousands have been flocking to revival services being held four nights a week at the convention center in Mobile, Ala., where Kilpatrick now leads Church of His Presence.

Kilpatrick said a spiritual outpouring began July 23 during an annual church conference. Visiting British evangelist Nathan Morris preached, and "we basically had another Father's Day," Kilpatrick said, referring to the day in 1995 when a five-year revival broke out at his former church, Brownsville Assembly of God in Pensacola, Fla.

The following comment is not directed at anyone in particular, but just a simple exhortation for the saints.

Shall we run after signs and wonders? That sounds like a good plan to fall into the great deception that has been prophesied in the Bible (2 Thessalonians 2:3-12). Instead, give me Christ.

The Bible says that Jews looked for signs, but the apostles preached Christ crucified – the power of God and the wisdom of God – but a stumbling block to the Jews (1 Corinthians 1:22-24). Yes, God worked great miracles in the days of the apostles, but consider this: The power of God for salvation is in the Gospel, not in “signs and wonders”. If the “Holy Spirit” makes you take your eyes off Jesus unto “signs and wonders”, beware…

Right after I first believed in Jesus, before I was even baptized, the first church I started attending was a Pentacostal Church that had whole classes dedicated to signs and wonders. They had all kinds of "prophets" show up to speak. This one man was speaking about something, I do not know what,I felt like I was dying at the time, then his glasses flashed at me and the light was so intense I fled the sanctuary thinking I was dying. Then there was this heaviness upon me. After a while I went back to the sanctuary and someone asked me how I was doing with Jesus and I just started laughing. My friend said "he is not feeling well", and this other lady said no, "It is the Lord". And now I know it was an Angel of Light transformed and I Praise God for preserving me from one of the most deceptive evil thing I have ever encountered. And I have had spells cast on me by witches, I have read and practiced out of the Satanic bible, have tried astral projection, and many other evil things. But this transformed angel of light was by far the most deceptive and dangerous. Beware of this strange signs and wonders revival thing were people laugh hysterically. And praise God for Preserving his Saints. I love him so much for I was truly the worst of sinners yet he saw it fitting, in his mercy, to save a wretch such as me.

Amen sister. Its not about more signs and wonders and its not about one more teaching, its about the God Himself. When the people seek the Lord our God with their whole hearts, then He shall be found. In John 6 Jesus exposes the motivation for why the crowd was there. They had came to see miracles. Before He was finished, the crowd and most of His followers were gone. When you have a radical encounter with Jesus, you will be changed for life or you will run and " preserve," life as you know it.........brother Frank

If people would read "Desiring God" by John Piper... I think a lot of these "signs and wonders" things would diappear. The problem is people do not find their sufficiency in Christ. They are not looking for abounding joy in God.

I agree that some in the church seek signs and wonders alone, which is wrong. When a man or woman comes in contact with Jesus Christ it will change their life forever, where as many miracles are soon forgotten. At the same time I do not pray that signs and wonders would disappear as one said but that they would increase. I pray that God would receive all the credit and not a man or woman, and that for some it would draw them to Christ. Praying for them to disappear is contrary to how the early church believed and is against scripture in my opinion. I pray that God would pour out his Holy Spirit on the church, that His hand would heal, that signs and wonders would be done in the name of Jesus, and that His church preaches the truth with boldness as the apostles did.
