Pat Robertson supports Telekinesis !

Check this out. The other day on 700 club Pat Robertson got a letter from a woman who said "My son tells me he has telekinetic powers, I think this is demonic, what do you suggest Pat Robertson"So Pat Robertson goes on to say on the show that she should not discourage her son from practicing this. He said that he believes that we havnt tapped into the full power of our minds and that Jesus even said we could speak to mountains and make them move. He told her that "if God gave him a ginuine gift of telekinisis dont discourage it, just test it to be sure its not satanic, however I dont think it will be."ON TELEVISION he told this woman not to discourage her son from practicing something that Ive only seen in witchcraft. I mean, am I wrong, is it biblical? Are there men of God in the bible that had telekinetic powers that I am over looking? I think not! I am appalled that he outright said that and even said that he doesnt think that it would be satanic. Am I alone on this? I even watched the show the next day to see if he recanted on it,.............. Needless to say it was business as usual for the daily show. No mention of the staement from the previous day. What do you all think?

I would not ascertain all these things to the denomic but I do feel that much of it is something that is not according to the power of the Holy Spirit and therefore something we should not be tapping into. Its clear that Satan can tap into some hidden potential energies in mans soul to accomplish amazing feats, this is clearly shown in many of the worlds religions. I would highly recommend you read the book: The power of the latent soul by Watchman Nee, he covers much on this topic from a solid biblical standpoint.This is disturbing that hes OK'ing it on national television, many could be lead astray dabbling into these things instead of surrendering to the power of God in their lives.

You may still find a few Christians here and there who do not allow the practice of paranormal activity to become a part of common Church spirituality.We have allowed for stirring phenomena to bridge the gap between spiritual dissatisfaction and a spiritual reality which is eager to move in pretending to serve in the role of the Spirit.Christ revealed, Christ formed, Christ at the center of our fellowship would cause controversy and confrontation in realms infested by falsehood.Lars W.

I suspect that Pat Robertson is taking the position of some that these powers are neutral. That they are the residual powers left behind when man died towards God. Using the imagination to 'image' the success of meetings and healing is another aspect. Others have suggested that faith is the same kind of power and that we can use these things for good or evil.I don't know anyone who has used these 'soul' powers who has not been then or subsequently the subject of spirit 'interference'.I think Watchman Nee is too speculative in this area. I think Biblical revelation is specifically on a 'need-to-know' basis, and when we move beyond this we are moving into areas without divine authority; this is extremely dangerous.

Well said Lars!--------------"I see a lady with a red dress, she is having a pain in her right side and..."Sound familiar?Not trying to be flippant, but it doesn't seem to much of a reach to see the same leaven of this so called 'word of knowledge' and an acquiescing with the paranormal. These things do need to be addressed, especially if it is being given as 'advice'. Interesting topics today :roll:

I think your right ---I believe the Watchman Nee book was "The latent powers of man", Personally I like Jesus who is our example , "Who emptied himself and became obedient......" "not by might not by power but by (who's spirit???)---It's not mans---deffinently not satans demon hordes---Sometimes In our desire to see the supernatural we side step The only Supernatural we'er to seek----Jesus Christ.

Yeah it was this last Tuesday Oct. 26th.. Because I work in a TV station and was the one who actually aired it, I was able to salvage the tape up and make a copy. Matter of fact it was the very last thing on the show right before it went off. During the "bring it on" part of the show.

my PERSONAL opinion is that born-again, Spirit-filled Christians should get rid of the TV, the cable, the satelite dish, and concentrate on the study of the Bible, the ministry of secret and group prayer, the ministry of evangelism, and benevolence ministry to address the physical needs of a dying world. Thats just MY opinion, I do not mean to seem legalistic....I don't mind to be hard core sold out to Jesus....bless God for being a peculiar people, living in the world, and not being of it.This is just what I've done in my life....good bye TV, and in ten minutes, this very computer is going in the shed, I'll log on at the liberry from now on.(lol) I'm serious. God is so good, I pray ...that people view me as a fool for Christ.Also, IN MY OPINION, Robertson and others of his ilk, have fornicated with the world long enough. They stock up wealth and prestige, they clamour and climb for positions of importance and power. Its part of that whole thing that I bothers me so much....and that is the coming STATE RELIGION. O believers, our founding fathers were so wise when they insisted upon a seperation of church and state, the last thing you want is any earthly government anywhere NEAR the House of God, but in my spirit I feel its gonna happen, just watching the way this republican party is seducing the body of believers, and the body is allowing itself to be seduced. These men in suits, like Robertson with their apostatizing ways, and their fleshly forays into politics, as if the Lord cared about 'gun control' or 'lower taxes' or 'less government', or any of they other worldy concerns that have NOTHING to do with the discharging the awesome task the Church has been given us, all of us, and that is the Great Commission, evangelizing the world.The last time a government got involved with the church was in Rome, and the fruit was over a thousand years of darkness, and to this day, people, mostly children suffer at the hands of this cruel deception.Oh God, I'm so sick of the Robertson's and the Hinns and the Crouch's, and the Rove's and the Delay's of this world.....Lord Jesus, please...lead us to the John the Baptist's that you have stationed on the anonymous riverbanks of this world. We don't get Christian TV in Singapore. However the TV media itself is powerful. Sadly the devil has used it to his advantage.The Christian community, from Christian TV programs from the US, (I have watch some , when I'm home in Australia).Sadly, it lacks the deeper teaching of God. And has become beggers. Asking people for money. And message which are on TV which are shallow, and have quite a bit of Balaam teaching.To be honest. When I was young, I was put off of being a Christian when I saw Christian TV from the US. It was too dramatic, and pastors on TV were living high lifestyle. I attended a very dry church, which put me off. Until I came to Singapore (that's a long story)However, it is important for Christian community not to conform to this world, and mimic or dramatise programs from the world. For example. I am web developer for our church website. Its my role not have pop-up ads, no flashing banners, not to sell any things online, or even big write up of the Pastor. But have the word of God presented nicely. So people would be compelled to read the content. CornerstoneAnd its important we use the media wisely (TV, radio, print, and web) to spread the gospel, so outreach to many people as we can. We can not the ignore the media as a tool. (Your bible is a form of media), Paul used it, to write his letters. For example: this forum, and this website help us grow more with the Lord, as we listen to wise men preach the truth, and provoke us understand more when we read the bible.

Hey Neil,Don't put away that computer, just stay logged on here. :-) You never know the good that is being done through sharing your thoughts and heart.Remember the signs that you have been putting up?There is a lot of traffic going through these parts on any given day and a lot of signs are being read even when they are not being responded to. All over the world no less. Kind of scary at the same time...now that I think about it...It's an unorthodox church in some ways around here, but it is a church inwardly, where it matters, besides we have better reading material than your local library :-P
