We Can't

We can’t force our loved ones to follow God
But we cover them in prayer
Thus our love will rise to the Throne of Grace
And meet the Saviour there

We can’t follow feet upon the earth
When ours have feebler grown
But our prayers run ahead and reach God’s ear
Each cry and heart-rent groan

We can’t fill the pitfalls that lie in wait
For a loved one to fall in
But our cry to God can let His voice
Confront them in their sin
