Wine [is] a mocker, strong drink [is] raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.Proverbs 20:1
Those who crucified Jesus mocked him and raged against him as they cried "crucify him". They were deceived by Satan and blinded by their sin. They were not wise. For had they known wisdom "they would not have crucified the Lord of glory." When we sin, filling our bodies with darkness, Our vision becomes blurry, we cannot see the truth clearly, thus we stagger down crooked paths. Jesus Christ comes to us in our drunken state, in love he condescends to us sinners, and touches our eyes so we can see clearly. He takes us by the hand and leads us away from our life of sin. He gives to us living water that fills us with the light of life. Sober, now we see him clearly, our eyes fixed on Him, Jesus Christ, the way, the truth, and the life. Glory to his name.
