Nova: "NO GO"

It was a mistake for Chevy to introduce the "Nova" to latin speaking people. For Nova means "No Go". Who would believe that Chevy wanted to make such a mistake? Such a perfect example of good intentions gone bad.

The following is not a new idea. But it's worth repeating. The children of God (through the Spirit of God) present themselves as a people who receive the power to overcome. The world sees their success and, without understanding, tries to mimmic. The Church has been swept with this. We speak of those who attained certain victories over sin and many are caused to believe it was because there was something special about those people. After all, they attained what many people seek; a way of life that pleases God.

It is not through man's righteousness that God is pleased. God is pleased with His Son. And we enter into that pleasure through the power given to overcome. Struggle as you will, the only success against sin man can achieve is to supress it. It is the power of God which removes it.

I am not sinless nor smart with words. Perhaps there are some of you who can add to this understanding. But one thing I do know: Salvation and Sanctification belong to Jesus alone. Though we strive that we should not offend our brothers and sisters by supressing the sinful nature in their presence, the work of God alone is what brings us to righteous behavior. By the power of God I become in the hours alone what people see me as in their presence.

By the Grace of God, I will not be called a Nova.

I believe the tendency to look to others is fleshly in any way it presents itself.

Some like to look to others who are doing better that they, and thus end up hailing and idolizing them, and some like to look to others who are doing worse than they and end up hailing themselves.

We are told to follow the footsteps of the faithful, the cloud of witnesses mentioned in Hebrews 11.
To conquer as they had by faith.
They only conquered because they looked to God and we are told to follow their example and look to the author and finisher of faith, our Lord Jesus Hebrews 12.

How did Jesus conquer and finish His faith.? Because of the joy that was set before Him, He endured the cross despising the shame, and was rewarded for His faithfulness to set at the right hand of the throne of God.
By looking to that reward, He was able to endure such opposition from sinners against Himself and resist unto blood shed. Each of us have a cross to bear daily. If we endure the chastening of the Lord faithfully. We will be rewarded, but we must look to Christ, not to man, not to circumstances, but only to Christ.

"During the days of Jesus' life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission."

Even for the Lord, our Lord, it was God who justified.

2But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

10For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

11For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,

12Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.

13And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me.

14Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

That an awsome and humbling thought.
That even Christ, the incarnate God had to meet the demands of God the Father.

8And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

9Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

10That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Phil 2:9-11

Who are we to say that we don't have to meet the demands of God and carry our cross daily and follow Him.
