Road to Revival

"The heavens also dropped rain at the presence of God" Psalm 68:8

The road to revival is a road we must walk in rain. As heaven rains on us we rain tears of repentance for our sins and the sins of the people. In this walk is the presence of God. And if we walk this road, feet cold and wet, face set like flint, as tears mixed with rain fall from our countenance, we will bring God's presence with us no matter where we are, and there will be revival. We must walk this road, it may be uncomfortable but it is a cross road, and only this walk brings God glory.

Revival is a word we use to describe a positive leaning in the numbers game. It was not always this way. Revival is that of pouring salt on a dying fly. Watch him respond to the acid. Revival is what we see after a long night's sleep. We find strength for the next task. Revival is that of considering that our plight is not nearly as heavy as that of others. Revival is rarely an individual choice. Revival requires some sort of insipration.

We ask, "Revive us O' Lord". What do we mean? Is not this to ask God for a renewal of life? What inspires a renewal of life? Doesn't that belong to the Lord of life? Where is true revival without the power of Christ? And if we don't see revival, regardless all our thrashing, where is the power of Christ?

We can get the numbers with a circus. But we can't get life by using man's rotting contrivances. It is the power of God, through Christ Jesus, that men are made alive. Find that power . . . . . find that life. . . . . find the consuming fire that is Christ Jesus!

The end of the road to revival is that the God of Infinite worth, who died on a cross, is getting the Glory and the reward that he deserves.

When we reach the end of that golden road, let us pause to gaze upon that tree, where the Saviour has bled for you and I. As we stand, let us fall hard upon our face, basking in that Majestic Light, of His Glory and Grace. Nothing in our hands we bring, but to that blessed Cross we cling. Let our life so be, "consecrated Lord, to Thee".
