95 Modern Theses - Thesis 1

sermonindex Nov 9, 2010

1. The “church” at large has forgotten that the chief end of man is to glorify God. (Rom 16:27; 1Cor 6:20; Mt 6:9; 1Cor 10:31)

I encourage discussion about each of these thesis points as they are posted. We are posting 1 per day for the next 95 days as per the challenge one brother made and I considered a tremendous idea:

A proposition to everyone that reads this post! Lets stimulate a modern-day e-tsunami of reform! - http://bit.ly/drvHsJ

This has very much been forgotten, somehow we have seen a gospel message that focuses on man's happiness rather than Christ's Glory.

I would encourage everyone that is thinking about this thesis to relisten to Ten Shekels and a Shirt today. :) One of the best sermons imho on this subject.

Sadly, this is true! The modern day focus is more on the "happiness of man" (as Paris Reidhead would say) than on the "Glory of God". If we will turn our focus back to God and Him being glorified I believe we will see revival, but not until then!

How can we as a church and ourselves personally as part of the body of Christ give "very great praise" to our Heavenly Father practically?

I find that in this very western culture we live in that it's all about me, myself and I and even in the church we want the attention for our "good works" as Christians. We are looking for the approval of man rather than God.
