My Testimony

sermonindex Sep 3, 2003

A year or two ago I met a T. Austin Sparks fan who use to be a Pentecostal. He kept trying to tell me that Sparks was Nee's mentor and that he was deeper. I had no problem with that since I know Nee respected Sparks, but it became a problem after reading Pioneers of the Heavenly Way I found a distict difference in the writings of these two writers. I found Watchman Nee extremely intelligent in his writings and when he wrote it was incredibly efficacious, indwelt by the Holy Spirit, purposeful and exacting. I found T. Austin Sparks a little more flippant and verbose always trying to express himself resurrectedly, finding little of the matter of codeath in Christ in his writings; he seemed one sided that way; not unlike Jessie-Penn Lewis is more so focused on the cross. In and of themselves these are not so bad a things. I just gave my honest assessment that I like Watchman Nee's writings more since he took it all in the best balance I felt possible. Well then that person got quite obstinate with me. It is as if there is an exaltation of T. Austin Sparks in some peoples' hearts, and I fear that problem exists here too when I discovered this site, with the picture of the man T. Austin Sparks above its banner. I noticed this in reactions by folks here in mentioning this fact they got quite hostile. This has nothing to do with the Witness Lee clan by the way that is on this website that has altered Watchman Nee's writings. They are a separate matter and equally a disturbing problem that wish not to examine themselves in their cult. No doubt a LSM Leeist attack is forthcoming as always or a self-defensive measure taking by this board of a T. Austin Sparks reader instead of just appreciating my experience and gaining from it.Thank you for listening and Praise the Lord! Amen!!

He kept trying to tell me that Sparks was Nee's mentor and that he was deeper. Please don't classify speakers on this site. They are all God-honouring and I think it's fruitless to compare which man is deeper. I believe all the speaker have there specific gifting and teachings that they emphasize.Well then that person got quite obstinate with me.I will ask you kindly to please refrain from directing comments to other people in such an manner to bring their character to question. Please talk about more fruitful things brother, there is a ZERO TOLERANCE on this issue and if you continue to post in the like manner you will be banned from the site. It is as if there is an exaltation of T. Austin Sparks in some peoples' hearts, and I fear that problem exists here too when I discovered this site, with the picture of the man T. Austin Sparks above its banner. You are speaking out of ignorance. There is no exaltation of speakers beyond the proper measure, and the image you are refering to changes every 1 or 2 months. So during the whole month of April I had William Booth's picture up and during June and July I had Jim Cymbala's picture. The 'problem' you are trying to refer to is non-existant, please take this as a warning and don't make such rash and obviously harsh statements, if you have a direct question PM me the site admin. If you persist in these types of posts you will be banned. I say all this with the intentions not to accuse wrongly or condemn but just to state the rules of this forum.also refer to the following guidelines as a basis for the community:Community Rules
